Ever notice headlights looking extra glare-y at night, or feel like it takes longer to adjust when a car passes? πŸš— Night vision naturally changes as we age, but glare sensitivity and slower adjustment can also be early signs of things like early cataracts β€” often well before they'd show up on a regular vision check. If night driving has started to feel more stressful than it used to, it's worth mentioning at your next comprehensive exam. We're here to help across all four of our Eastern Iowa locations.

Quick question: when's the last time you blinked on purpose? πŸ‘οΈ Staring at screens all day β€” whether it's work, scrolling, or streaming β€” cuts our blink rate way down, which is a big reason so many adults deal with dry, irritated eyes without realizing why. A few easy fixes: the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds), staying hydrated, and using artificial tears if things feel gritty by the end of the day.

"I didn't realize how much I'd adjusted to blurry vision until I could actually see clearly again." We hear this more than you'd think β€” from patients who put off scheduling an exam for months, sometimes years, because their vision changed so gradually they stopped noticing. If it's been a while since your last comprehensive exam, consider this your sign. Our team is ready to help at all four of our Eastern Iowa locations.

Back-to-school season means checking off a lot of boxes β€” and your child's vision should be one of them. A school screening is a great first step, but it only checks distance vision. It won't catch things like eye strain, focus issues, or tracking trouble, which can quietly affect how a kid does in the classroom (and sometimes get mistaken for attention issues). If it's been about a year since your child's last comprehensive exam, this is the week to get it scheduled β€” before the first bell rings, not after. We're proud to serve families across Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, Marion, and Robins. Book your child's exam today and start the school year with clear vision.

❓ "How often should I see an optometrist?"
Great question β€” and one we get a lot!

The general rule of thumb:
πŸ‘οΈ Adults (18–60): Once every 1–2 years
πŸ‘Ά Kids: First exam at 6 months, again at 3 years, then before starting school
πŸ‘΄ Seniors (60+): Every year β€” vision changes faster as we age
⚠️ Have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease? You may need to come in more frequently.
Even if your vision feels fine, a lot can change between visits that only an exam can catch. Don't wait until something feels wrong!
