Medusa, or medusoid generation, is a phase of the life cycle of cnidarians from the Medusozoa subtype: hydroid, scyphoid and box jellyfish. The body of jellyfish largely consists of flooded connective tissue - mesoglea - and is shaped like a bell or an umbrella.
