💙 A Message to Everyone

Infection Prevention and Control is not only the responsibility of healthcare workers—it is the responsibility of every individual. Every clean hand, every properly worn mask when needed, every act of respiratory etiquette, every correctly disinfected surface, and every conscious effort to prevent infection can save lives.

As we continue to face emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, let us remember that IPC is not just a hospital policy—it is a way of life. The choices we make each day affect not only our own health but also the safety of our families, our patients, our coworkers, and our communities.

Together, let us build a culture where infection prevention becomes a daily habit, vigilance becomes second nature, and protecting one another becomes our shared commitment.

Because preventing infections starts with each one of us.

The celebration of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week 2026 concluded with the awarding ceremony for the Slogan Poster Making Contest, which was held on July 9, 2026.

Six talented participants proudly represented their respective departments:
🩺 Medical Department – 2 participants
👩‍⚕️ Nursing Department – 2 participants
🏢 Administrative Department – 2 participants

Each participant showcased creativity and a strong commitment to promoting Infection Prevention and Control. As a token of appreciation for their efforts and participation, all six contestants received a Certificate of Participation and a special token from the Infection Prevention and Control Unit.

🎉 Congratulations to this year’s Champion!

The 2026 IPC Slogan Poster Making Contest Champion is Ma. Arna R. Villan of the Laboratory Department, under the Medical Department.

The winning entry earned the highest overall score, receiving the top ratings from 4 out of the 5 judges, while also garnering the highest number of Facebook reactions, which comprised 10% of the total judging score.

As the grand winner, Ma. Arna R. Villan was awarded a Certificate of Recognition and a token in recognition of her outstanding creativity and dedication in promoting the advocacy of Infection Prevention and Control.

The Infection Prevention and Control Unit extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, judges, departments, and everyone who actively supported and participated in this year’s IPC Week activities. Your enthusiasm, cooperation, and commitment contributed greatly to the success of this celebration.

The Infection Prevention and Control Unit of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital successfully conducted a health education session at the Outpatient Department (OPD).

The activity focused on empowering patients and their companions through lectures on the importance of Infection Prevention and Control. Topics included common infectious diseases that can be prevented through proper infection control practices, the correct hand hygiene techniques, proper cough etiquette, environmental cleanliness, and other practical measures that help reduce the spread of infections.

A total of 56 participants, composed of patients and their folks, actively took part in the session. The event was made more engaging and enjoyable through an interactive question-and-answer portion, where participants enthusiastically shared their knowledge and received small prizes for every correct answer.

This activity reflects our continued commitment to promoting health awareness, strengthening community participation, and fostering a culture of safety through effective infection prevention and control practices.

Together, let us continue to build a healthier and safer community through knowledge, collaboration, and resilience.

The Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU) of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) is pleased to announce the Poster-Slogan Making Contest, featuring creative entries from the Medical, Nursing, and Administrative Departments that reflect this year’s IPC Week theme.

As part of the contest, Social Engagement constitutes 10% of the total judging criteria. We invite everyone to support our talented TLJPH artists by participating in the online voting.

Mechanics:

1. Like the TLJPH Infection Control Committee page.
2. Visit the Poster-Slogan Making Contest post and react (Like, Love, Care, Wow, etc.) to the poster(s) that best embody this year’s IPC Week theme. (You may react to more than one poster.)
3. All Facebook reactions will be counted until July 10, 2026, at exactly 3:00 PM.

Theme: “Building Responsive IPC Systems: Strengthening Monitoring, Collaboration, and Resilience”

The celebration of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week 2026 continues with another meaningful and educational day as the Infection Prevention and Control Unit of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital brought health education directly to our patients, watchers, and healthcare workers.

Health teaching sessions were conducted in the Pediatric Ward, Medical Ward, Surgical Ward, and Obstetric Ward, reaching a total of 108 participants, including patients and their folks/watchers. The discussions focused on common infectious diseases, their modes of transmission, and practical ways to prevent infection. Proper hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and the importance of wearing a face mask whenever necessary were emphasized as simple yet effective measures in preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

Participants enthusiastically joined the interactive question-and-answer portion and demonstrated the proper alcohol-based hand rub technique, reinforcing the knowledge they had gained. Tokens and prizes were awarded to participants who actively answered questions and successfully performed the proper hand hygiene technique, making the learning experience both enjoyable and memorable.

In addition, the IPC Team conducted rounds in the Clinical Laboratory and different hospital wards to engage laboratory personnel and nursing staff who were unable to participate in the previous day’s activities. Through another round of interactive question-and-answer sessions, participants were encouraged to reflect on and demonstrate how well they had embraced and applied the hospital’s IPC policies and protocols in their daily practice. Staff members who correctly answered the questions also received prizes in recognition of their knowledge and commitment to infection prevention.

As the sessions concluded in every ward, one important message was consistently shared: Infection Prevention and Control should not only be practiced within the walls of the hospital—it should become a way of life. The habits we cultivate inside healthcare facilities, such as proper hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and responsible infection prevention practices, should also be practiced in our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities. By working together and making these practices part of our everyday lives, we can protect ourselves, our loved ones, and the people around us from preventable infectious diseases.

Together, let us continue building responsive IPC systems through stronger monitoring, meaningful collaboration, and lasting resilience—because Infection Prevention and Control is everyone’s responsibility.

The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, in support of the Department of Health – Negros Island Region (DOH-NIR), proudly joins the celebration of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week 2026, embracing this year’s theme that highlights the importance of strong monitoring systems, collaboration among healthcare professionals, and resilience in ensuring safer healthcare for everyone.

Following the flag ceremony, hospital personnel gathered to perform the Alcohol-Based Hand Rub (ABHR) activity, reinforcing that hand hygiene remains the cornerstone of infection prevention and one of the simplest yet most effective measures to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

The celebration continued with an interactive IPC Question-and-Answer Booth held at the chapel area. The activity was enthusiastically participated in by our Chief of Hospital, Chief of Clinics, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, medical technologists, medical social workers, security personnel, administrative staff, housekeepers, auxiliaries, and other hospital employees. Their active participation reflected that infection prevention is a shared responsibility across all departments.

Participants who successfully answered IPC-related questions received prizes, making the learning experience both enjoyable and rewarding. The activity also provided an opportunity to capture memorable group photos that showcased the unity and commitment of our healthcare workforce.

Adding to the day’s excitement, a special “Blast from the Past” video featuring previous IPC activities was presented, reminding everyone of our continuing journey in promoting patient safety and strengthening infection prevention practices within our institution.

Today’s celebration was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, learning, and camaraderie. More importantly, it reinforced that by building responsive IPC systems through strengthened monitoring, collaboration, and resilience, we create a safer environment for our patients, healthcare workers, and the entire community.

Together, let us continue to uphold the principles of Infection Prevention and Control—not only during IPC Week but every day—as we strive toward excellence in healthcare and patient safety.
