It’s my best friend’s birthday today! She is not on social media but I couldn’t help posting to celebrate her.

We’ve been friends since we’ve been 14–36 years of friendship! We’ve had our ups and downs, moved to Arizona, got married to two guys who were good friends, worked together, had babies, and now have watched them graduate.

Through everything she has been there. As I get older I realize how lucky I am to have such a true friend who is still here. She loves me despite my faults and even though we don’t always agree, we have each other’s back. Happy birthday beautiful!

One of the biggest reasons I stay consistent with my nutrition?

I don’t wait until I’m hungry to figure out what I’m going to eat. If I had to make every meal from scratch I would be screwed.

On the weekends, I prep extra protein. Not full meals. Not 14 identical containers of chicken and broccoli. Just protein.

Because in my house, we all eat differently.

I eat low carb and higher fat.
My teenage boys eat a LOT of carbs.
And we all have different nutritional needs and goals.

So if I already have chicken, beef, burgers, taco meat—or whatever protein we’re eating—ready to go, I can build completely different meals around it.

I add vegetables, avocado, salad, or a lower-carb side for me.

For the boys? Rice, potatoes, pasta, tortillas, bread… whatever fits their needs.

Same protein. Different meals. Very little extra work.

At 50, with a full-time job, two teenage sons, a house, workouts, and everything else that needs my attention, I’ve learned this:

Consistency gets a whole lot easier when you stop making healthy eating so complicated.

Do you meal prep full meals—or just components like I do?

Most of us already know what makes us feel better.

✅Go to bed earlier.
✅Lift the weights.
✅Eat the protein.
✅Take the walk.
✅Stop drinking every weekend if it makes you feel like garbage.
✅Stop starting over every Monday.

The problem usually isn’t that we need another podcast, another meal plan, another challenge, or another person telling us to “find our why.”

We keep negotiating with ourselves.

✅I’m too tired today.
✅I’ll start next week.
✅I deserve this.
✅One missed workout won’t matter.
✅I’ve already blown it anyway.

And to be clear—I’m not talking about perfection. I’m 50. I work full time. I have a family, a house, dogs, responsibilities, and days when I absolutely do not feel like doing any of it.

But I’ve learned that I feel my worst when every healthy habit becomes a daily debate.

The goal isn’t more motivation.

The goal is becoming the woman who doesn’t have to renegotiate the basics every damn day.

That’s the work.

Anyone else need to hear this today?

How I go on vacation and don’t gain weight!

✅ I don’t try to diet on vacation.

✅ I prioritize protein at most meals.

✅ I stay active naturally—walking, swimming, exploring.

✅ I enjoy treats without turning every meal into a cheat meal.

✅ I don’t stress about the scale.

One week of vacation doesn’t ruin your progress. The all-or-nothing mindset does.

I almost didn’t post this.

Not because I don’t have things to share… but because life got busy.

I’m working full time.
Raising kids.
Managing a home.
Trying to stay healthy and take care of myself.

And honestly? Sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

I know so many women in midlife feel this way too. We’re trying to do ALL the things and often end up putting ourselves last.

But I don’t want my health—or this community—to be something I quit on.

So this is me showing up imperfectly and starting again. 💛

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, you’re not alone.

Tell me: Do you ever feel like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day? ⬇️

Nine months ago, I decided to stop drinking alcohol.

Not because I hit rock bottom.

Not because anyone told me I had to.

I simply wanted to see what would happen if I stopped using alcohol as part of my life.

What surprised me most is that the changes went far beyond the physical.

Yes, I have more energy.

Yes, I’m sleeping better.

I’ve lost body fat, my workouts are stronger, my skin is clearer, and I feel more focused and productive.

But the biggest change has been something I never expected:

I trust myself more.

For years, I would tell myself, “Just one.”

Or, “Not tonight.”

Or, “Only on weekends.”

And then I’d break that promise.

Over and over.

Every alcohol-free day has become a vote for the woman I want to be and proof that I can do hard things.

Quitting drinking didn’t magically solve all my problems.

But it removed something that was standing in the way of becoming the healthiest, strongest, most vibrant version of myself.

If you’re alcohol-free, sober-curious, or simply taking a break, I’d love to hear what you’ve learned about yourself along the way. ❤️

I thought the college baseball recruiting process would be the hard part.

Turns out the hard part is realizing we’re almost at the finish line.

Fellow moms—how did you handle the transition when your kids left home?
