For pregnant mummas Easter weekend is a well deserved, indulgent break - but for those with Gestational Diabetes it can be incredibly challenging, surrounded by stress and temptation. 🍫💝🍩🥔🧁
Having suffered with GD in my last pregnancy, along with my fellow GD mummas Lisa & Mel we know only too well how hard it is to manage your diet, medication and sugars every single mouthful, every single day Throw in a sea of chocolate and family roast dinners - oh so cruel!
GD is constantly misunderstood. It cannot be caused, or prevented by anything that you do - it is entirely hormonal and no GD mumma should ever feel guilty or to blame. The NHS guidance is sadly a little lacking and far too ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to managing your sugars.
It is possible to still enjoy your diet and your pregnancy but it takes knowledge. The BEST resource by far for GD mummas is found at the brilliant - this is an invaluable support network and packed to the brim with delicious recipes and advice.

My personal top tip if you are craving that little bit of Easter sugar - ice cream which is like HEAVEN on a spoon! (Two to three scoops with double cream) as a snack or at least an hour after your main meal.
Or sugar free ice pops will really hit the spot in this glorious sunshine!
Please don’t suffer in silence, if you have any questions at all please do feel free to DM - I am always happy to share experiences and advice
💛🐣🌸☀️Happy Easter mummas 💛🐣🌸☀️xx
