Re: physician coaching, I have a limited number of spots available, not covered by OHIP, but may be included in benefits where employer groups all of "wellness" into a lump sum or pays for coaching.
Re: Career Questions...Some docs can make adjustments to their work, interactions, boundaries, workplace, supports, realistic goals, and attitudes and remain in their current role; others may choose to narrow/broaden their focus, retrain, or work in a new field. There are many options. I teach about this in my Recharge course and help physicians understand their suitability based on strengths, challenge areas, and their current purpose, values, and goals. Often, the goals and values have changed considerably and yet individuals have not revisited this. Things like money or prestige or academic appointments may take a back seat to time with kids, partner, loved ones, friends; personal development; delving into a beloved hobby; exploring new avenues; enjoying the simple things; pursuing a passion etc. There are so many options! It helps to get support to see what is practical (needs, financials, family situation etc.) and what makes your heart soar and your life worth living.
I am wishing every one of you well at this challenging time in the pandemic. I sometimes remind docs that their medical degree is not a "life sentence", but rather an opportunity, a springboard - and you have many many transferrable skills. I always say: You have more options than you realize.
