POV: you’re craving a sandwich for lunch and are trying to decide between veggies/chips and whole grain/white bread. 🤔 which one(s) are you picking??

Disordered eating tells you that one of these two options is safer, better, or healthier… but the truth is being able to have a wide variety of foods IS the best, healthiest, and safest thing you can do.

This is because eventually, you’re going to be in situations where you’re not guaranteed to have access to the “healthiest” or “best” foods, but you still need to eat.

And avoiding social situations as a way to stick to your safe foods is disordered ‼️‼️

I teach my clients HOW to become a “normal” eater by walking them through the stages of mechanical eating and intuitive eating. No more dreading food centered social events or scanning menus for hours in advance 🎉

The habits you think are helping you feel in control around food are the exact habits that are keeping you stuck ‼️🤯

It SEEMS like common sense, right?

❌ If you can’t control yourself around [insert binge food here]
➡️ The answer should be simple: Stop eating it. Don’t let yourself have that first bite. Don’t keep it at home.

But if it WERE that simple, would you still be binging?

The reason this doesn’t work is because binge eating is a SYMPTOM.

If you want to stop binge eating, you need to treat the root cause, not the symptom. 🔍

I help my clients get to the root cause of their chaotic relationship with food by being weight-neutral, trauma-informed, and HAES-aligned 🫶 To fast track your binge recovery, DM me INFO to learn about my current coaching options ✨

I love this trend and feel as though we could all use more transparency and vulnerability 💕

it’s not easy to share what you’re struggling with but if I’ve learned anything from this trend it’s that way more people than you think are struggling with the exact same thing(s) you are right now and it’s a testament to the fact that you’re genuinely never alone in your struggles.

They’re always valid and you deserve support regardless of what you’re going through 🤍

What’s healthier, eating a cookie and moving on with your day guilt-free / binge free

OR

NOT eating the cookie only to think about it for the rest of the day until you eventually cave and binge on an apple, piece of dark chocolate, popcorn, halo-top ice cream and 10 cookies?

Your mental and emotional health are JUST as valuable as your physical health.

Chances are your relationship with the scale is… complicated.

But guess what? This just makes you part of the majority. ❤️

Your complicated relationship with the scale has nothing to do with the scale and everything to do with what you think that number says about you as a human.

What you think:
👉 people will like me more if I’m smaller
👉 I will be healthier/ prettier/successful if I’m smaller
👉 I am only worth loving if I am smaller

What you need to believe instead to have a healthy relationship with the scale:
✅ How I feel about myself matters more than what others think about me.
✅ I can be healthy/pretty/successful regardless of what the scale says
✅ the right people will love me for who I am, not for what the scale says.
✅ If someone has an issue with my weight, that is a projection of their insecurities and it has nothing to do with me.

To get from A -> B, you need to foster a healthy mindset around weight and embrace a more holistic approach to wellbeing (which is easier said than done) 🫶🏼

How many of these do you do? 😳 (Swipe) →

PS these are not just signs of restriction.. they are signs of disordered eating 🚩

I know just how normalized these behaviors are and I know just how much they impact your relationships and quality of life. ❤️‍🩹

You think about food all the time, worry about what will be offered at food centered events, anxious about what people think about you (what you look like or what you eat), and you constantly compare yourself to others.
🌪️🌪️🌪️

It’s. Exhausting.

But what if it didn’t have to be this way?

What if food was JUST food and you no longer had the urge to binge on cookies, eat in secret, or constantly wonder how you can compensate for what you are earlier? 🍪

This is all possible for you with something called intuitive eating 💕 and it’s not as simple as it seems on the surface - it’s an evidenced based framework designed to help you reconnect with your internal cues so you can eat peacefully + effortlessly ‘balanced’ while landing in your body’s happiest weight.

The first step is recognizing that you deserve that ↖️🫶🏼

Things I find myself repeating constantly as a dietitian because we live in world that looks at nutrition as black and white and easily forgets that nuance exists ❤️

🎉 PS- I have a FREE resource coming out NEXT week that’s designed to help you uncover the root cause as to why you might feel out of control around food. If you’re tired of thinking about food all the time and want to learn how to balance nutrition without restriction… keep your eyes peeled 👀

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 👇

Satisfaction is a key component of healing your relationship with food. 🔑

And chances are, after months (or years) of restricting, you may be “out of touch” from what being satisfied by your meal looks like — which is OK!! We just need to practice learning what it feels like again 🥰

Satisfaction is more of a mental feeling of being content with what you just ate. If you’re having a hard time noticing whether or not you’re satisfied, ask yourself after the meal whether or not you are still thinking about food or are craving something specific.

If you are, chances are the meal you had wasn’t satisfying

Not ALL meals you eat are going to be satisfying, and that’s normal. Some meals will just get the job done. But satisfaction is like the cherry on top that makes meals so much more enjoyable and helps you stop when you’ve reached a comfortable level of fullness.

The best thing you can do is experiment with different flavors, textures, and amounts of food (carbs & fats are especially satisfying)! Give yourself permission to eat foods you love and include them in your meals to increase satisfaction 🫶🏼

If you’re still unsure about how to get started, you might need additional support to help get you there! This stuff isn’t easy and so getting another set of eyes can be a game changer. DM me INFO to learn about how to work with me🫶🏼

no food is inherently bad or unhealthy 👏

you know what is unhealthy?
✖️ chronically stressing out about food
✖️ not being able to socialize due to food guilt
✖️ not being able to eat food prepared by people who love you because you don’t approve of the ingredients
✖️ counting every single calorie that you eat, even on vacation, because you can’t stand not know how many calories you’ve eaten

health is ✨NUANCED✨ and subjective.

if you’re struggling with binge eating, eating carbs at every meal is helpful.

learning how to eat meals without protein / veggies is helpful.

learning how to look at all foods as morally equal is helpful.

and the only way you’re going to be able to get back to an effortlessly “balanced” state of eating is by doing the above.

to get support through this process, DM me “FREEDOM” to learn about my coaching programs 🫶🏼

I know you want to know how to feel in control around food but calorie counting isn't going to get you there.

It's not your fault for struggling to feel in control around food.

I know you count calories because it gives you a sense of control.

And if you didn't count calories, you'd overthink whether or not you ate too much ...

But listen . . . you DESERVE to feel confident in what you're eating, without needing to count every calorie you eat.

The one thing that is going to help you feel confident that you're meeting your body's needs without "overdoing it" is learning how to trust your body.

There is NO app in the world that could tell you your body's needs more accurately than your body can.

Your body sends you signals for what it needs - you just have to learn what to look for.

I show you exactly how to do this inside my 1:1 coaching program. I walk you through the exact framework I've used with dozens of ladies to help them feel confident in their food choices without overthinking calories.
