We have 9 energy centres in our body. These centres can be either “Defined ” or “Undefined.” A defined centre (coloured) means that energy in that centre is consistent. You have consistent access to this energy, and you can rely on this in a fixed way. This is the energy you put out to the world, this is who you are.
An undefined centre (white) means that you don’t inherently have energy here. Think of these parts as energy receptors. These white centres in your chart are the places where you take the world in. Since the white centre takes the energy in from outside, it is not reliable, and you can’t really trust it – after all it is not you!
An undefined centre can be a wonderful source of wisdom and sensitivity (these are the themes we are here to learn in this lifetime). However, it is generally where we are trapped trying to be what we are NOT. Human Design calls this the not-self mind. This is who you think you are or what you think you should be.
The fact is that all of us have been shaped by our family, friends, and our culture without even realising it. Throughout our lives, we have picked traits from other people and amended our natural responses therefore shrinking our true nature. We always want to be who we are not, leasing us living our lives as we believe we should - literally leaning towards our openness (the whiteness in our chart).
The mind can literally be obsessed with the themes of the open centres. Learning to witness these not-self voices is the first step in our deconditioning process. It’s like pealing the onion, pealing off the layers of who we think we are, so that what is left is your body’s awareness of what it is like to be uniquely you, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
Which centres do you have undefined?
