Everything is hard before it gets easy.

Most things worth having ask something of us first. Healing, healthy relationships, boundaries, building trust with yourself, learning to regulate your emotions.. none of it comes naturally when you’ve spent years surviving in ways that once made sense.

What people often don’t see is the maintenance work that happens behind the scenes. The therapy appointments, the uncomfortable conversations, the moments you choose not to abandon yourself, the practice of doing things differently over and over again. The quiet, unglamorous work rarely gets celebrated, but it’s what creates the ease everyone notices later.

Just because something feels difficult right now doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. New patterns take repetition, and growth asks for patience. Eventually, the things that once required effort become part of who you are.

Keep climbing. One day you’ll realize the life that feels natural to you now was once the thing you had to consciously practice. 🤍

If you had to grow up too fast, navigating adulthood can feel overwhelming with priorities shifting and relationships changing while some stay the same.

You look around and think everyone else is ahead:
emotionally, financially, relationally, mentally.

But many parentified children were never given the space to actually be children.

You learned responsibility before identity. Survival before self-trust. Caregiving before connection.

And that changes the way you move through adulthood.

If this resonates, you’re not alone 🤍

Hi, I’m Carm✨ Toronto therapist & founder of Girls Gotta Heal. I talk about and help people work through trauma, complicated relationships, grief, attachment & healing in the ways that we actually experience them.

Save this for the days you feel “behind.” 🔖

Hi, I’m Carm! 👋 If you’ve been following Girls Gotta Heal for a while, you might know me as the face behind the community. But did you know I’m also a Registered Psychotherapist running my own private practice? 🧠✨

I wanted to answer a few FAQs about what it’s actually like to work with me.

Quick facts:

🇨🇦 Based in Ontario (yes, I accept health insurance for Ontario residents!)

🤝 I work with individuals, couples, teens and yes, I see male clients too!

🎨 Every session is tailored to you whether we utilize CBT, somatic therapy, IFS, or a blend of modalities.

💖 My goal? Helping you deeply connect to yourself and the ones you love.

Taking that first step can feel so daunting, but therapy is the ultimate investment in your future self. 🫂 If you’re ready to start your healing chapter, let’s see if we’re a good fit!

Some days, one good interaction can change your whole mood 💛

A thoughtful text, someone checking in, an intentional applogy, a stranger being kind, laughing with a friend .. those little moments matter more than we realize.

Sometimes hard seasons look like smiling in public and struggling in private.

Through health challenges, surgeries, grief, and moments that changed me deeply along with my work as a therapist, I learned that healing isn’t always loud or visible. Sometimes it’s just choosing to keep going.

Choosing to rise anyway.

Over time, I found things that helped me protect my mental health like movement, routine, slowing down, connection, and asking for help when I needed it. But the truth is, not everyone has access to the care and support they deserve. And that’s why this matters to me so much.

I’m joining the Sunrise Challenge to help raise funds for mental health programs, support, and care for people who need it most. From May 25–29, I’ll be waking up with the sun for 5 mornings, getting in movement and I want you to do it with me!

Challenge yourself to rise early for 5 days with purpose. Walk, run, journal, reflect, move your body, watch the sunrise however that looks like for you.

Team members, you can participate in the challenge, donate, or both.

There is something powerful about choosing to show up for yourself while showing up for others too. 🌅

Join my team: GIRLS GOTTA HEAL. Donate. Share your reason to care.

Not everyone who gives attention is emotionally available.

Consistency, communication, accountability, emotional safety, and effort matter more than mixed signals and potential.

Sometimes the real question isn’t “Do they like me?”
It’s: “Do they have the emotional capacity to show up in a healthy way?”

🤍 Protect your peace, not just the connection.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health is also about the everyday weight people are carrying silently.

So many of us are navigating:
• generational pressure
• constant adaptation
• major life transitions
• emotional burnout behind the scenes

And honestly? It makes sense that people are overwhelmed.

You are not failing for finding life heavy sometimes.
You are responding to a world that asks a lot from people emotionally, mentally, and physically.

This month, let this be your reminder to slow down, check in with yourself, and give your mental health the same care you give everything else. 🤍
