I love my mantra bands ♥️

The first one I bought myself was “All I need is within me.”
My husband and I were halfway across the world from each other and I was grieving the loss of our life together. I started going to therapy because I didn’t feel like myself and I was struggling to not break down and cry every second of the day. But therapy gave me instant relief and, as silly as it may sound, this little affirmation helped me remember I’d be okay.

Because at the end of the day, all I need is within me.
♥️And all you need is within you.♥️

Of course, most of us thrive off of the love and support we receive from our loved ones, but what’s most important is that we know that we don’t need others to make us feel happy or loved or worthy.

To me, this mantra bracelet is a reminder that I am responsible for my happiness, I must love myself, and I must know I am worthy.

Some days it’s easier to believe than others, but I’m working on it!

♥️Believe in yourself first, my loves.♥️

Where do you find yourself right now?

It’s been a while, so I thought I’d share a little life update 😉

We left the beach and moved into the actual town of Tavernes. That means no sea views or walks on the beach at the moment, but that’s okay because I basically have zero time these days anyway 🤪

I’m working at a British School in a couple different capacities: I teach high school Psychology (loving it!) and am also an aide for a sweet little boy with autism. I’ve made some lovely friends at work and am super grateful to be back in a social environment. “Stay at home Adri” was not really all that happy, to be honest.

I’m still in school. For those of you that didn’t know, I’m getting my Psychology degree alllll over again here in Spain because if I want to get licensed to practice, my US degree won’t do. So I’m taking online classes at night and slowly trying to get through it.

So here I am, exhausted but also grateful. Grateful for the purpose, the income, the new flat, the coworkers and new friends, the growth and new knowledge, the young minds, the opportunity, the family and old friends who don’t hold it against me when it takes me ages to reply, the hope for something better, the oils that keep me going, and of course the laughs and cuddles and adventures in parenting (sometimes headaches) with my boys, my loves.
♥️♥️♥️

We often get frustrated because we don’t have everything figured out, or the perfect stable life feels unreachable… but we are working really hard towards our goals and I think that’s something to be damn proud of!

One step at a time ♥️

How many times a day do you think badly about a part of yourself?

Ugh, my double chin! My thin lips! My uneven skin! My tired face! Etc etc etc.

And how many times throughout the day do we notice the beautiful, unique, fierce or inspiring things about ourselves??

Today was a vulnerable day for me. I spoke a truth I struggle to admit and felt lousy all day. And on this emotional day, I looked in the mirror and thought I looked as crappy as I felt.

These unloving thoughts I’ve had about myself for what seems like forever literally change how I see myself when I look in the mirror. I notice all the “faults” and I’m convinced others notice them too. Not just that, in my mind they judge me for them.

Now, logically I know that everyone has their insecurities and that most likely no one is even noticing mine. But feelings don’t always follow “logic” now do they?

So tonight I’m making a point to love myself. To see the beauty.

I love my eyes. I think they’re special. Is that weird to say? Maybe. Or maybe not?! Maybe we should all have things we love about ourselves and not be embarrassed to say it ♥️

So on this random Thursday night, I’m encouraging you to stop thinking about what you don’t like about yourself and notice what you do like.

Love yourself, you freakin’ gorgeous queen! 👑 It’s not conceited, it’s self-love and it’s important.

Love,
Adri

My perfect moment.
Sitting on the beach, book in hand, salty hair and sandy toes, a soft breeze carrying the subtle smell of the sea, and the waves creating a soundtrack for the stories brought to life in my mind ♥️

My heart is happy, my soul is content.

What’s your perfect relaxing moment?

What are you paying attention to?

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment.

Spending too much time planning, problem-solving, daydreaming, or thinking negative thoughts can be draining.

And, it can also make you more likely to experience stress and anxiety.

Practicing mindfulness exercises can help you direct your attention away from this kind of thinking and engage with the world around you and how it makes you feel.

Validating what you’re feeling is a key component to this!

Stop and notice how you are feeling. Name your emotions and acknowledge that they are important.

The goal is to notice it without judgment.
And to accept the emotion, regardless of if it’s a “positive” or “negative” feeling. We just need to notice it, name it, and say “Okay, that’s there. I’m feeling (fill in the blank)”

All you have to do is try reflecting on the present moment by quietly observing and describing your thoughts to yourself.

When we are truly in the present and attentive to our immediate surroundings, we can begin to notice how we feel and what we need from ourselves ♥️

So, how are you feeling today?

You’d be surprised by what writing out your thoughts or feelings can do to help you get through difficult times.

In times of high stress, keeping a journal can be a helpful tool to help you work through the stress and uncomfortable feelings.

As you unload whatever comes to mind onto those journal pages, you’ll find that it gradually helps you to recognize your triggers, acknowledge certain thoughts or feelings you were ignoring, and feel more in tune with what you need in order to feel at peace.

If you’re like me, you’ve likely thought that journaling sounds really great but you don’t know how to begin so you just kinda forget about it.

I find that having a prompt helps me get started when I’m not sure what to write about, so here’s one for you!

👉🏻Try this journal prompt:

✨Right now, I feel challenged by __________.
However, I feel supported by __________.✨

Now, give it a go!
You’ll never know if this could work for you if you don’t try ♥️

Grab a journal and a pen that you like writing with, sit somewhere comfortable, away from distractions if you can. You can listen to some music if you like (preferably without words) or put some essential oils in a diffuser (I’m loving Black Spruce right now). Now start writing your response to the prompt ✍️

Don’t worry about how it looks or sounds, these words are just for you.
It may feel slow or choppy at first, that’s okay. You’ll start to find a flow. Don’t have expectations or limits to how much you should write.

And remember that you’re not writing for a grade, or work, or for someone to read or analyze. It doesn’t need to be perfect 😘

I fell in love this year♥️

In love with essential oils, that is! 😜

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I love sharing about oils and the myriad of ways they can help us.

I feel so much better than I did a year ago and I just feel like everyone should know that there may be an oil out there that can help you with something you’re struggling with!

One huge way essential oils can help us is with managing our stress. And since using oils has personally helped me feel mentally stronger, emotionally balanced, physically healthier, and more self-aware, it would be weird for me NOT to tell you about how they might help you manage your stress as well.

Because I believe in the stress-reducing benefits of aromatherapy and essential oils, I’ll be sharing a little about essential oils with you each week.

To start, here’s a look at which essential oils are most helpful when it comes to reducing stress.

👉🏻Do you have any of these oils? Would you like to know more about them?

Message me if you’d like to learn more about essential oils or are interested in getting this natural solution in your home ♥️🌿 There are some really great promos available this month, PLUS you’d get so many extra perks by being part of a community that likes to spoil its members 😘😘

✨And look out for my post every Wednesday about essential oils! ✨

When your body is telling you it needs a break, do you listen?

I used to ignore it (still do sometimes, honestly). As if being chronically busy and tired somehow meant I was more accomplished or a harder worker or worthy of praise and recognition.

If you’re a perfectionist too, you’ve likely used your “I’m so busy” almost like a badge of honor. Or it’s become a part of your identity. Like if you stop and do “nothing” (aka: just chill) for an hour or two, it doesn’t feel right. You think, “I’m not being productive” or “I do not know what to do with myself!”.

Who can relate?

I’m guessing a lot of you.

Well, I have to say, it’s time we stop doing that. We cannot be superhuman; we need to rest, and we need support.
Because we all know what happens when that tank fully runs out of gas, right? 💣🤯💨🥴💥🙃

Our work suffers, our relationships suffer, and our HEALTH suffers.

I’m getting better at reading the signs of my stress: low energy (like literally I was fighting to keep my eyes open in a meeting today), more irritability, craving junk food, lost motivation, tension in my jaw and shoulders, headache, and forgetting to breathe.

So I’m going to take a break. Read my new book for a few minutes, maybe take a little nap or possibly just go to bed early. Whatever my body needs to recharge a bit.
Because I know that if I try to push through and ignore these symptoms right now, they’re going to get worse and whatever studying or paper-writing, or meal-planning, or email-checking or prospecting, or content writing I try to do is just going to be total crap and will take me twice as long.

Repeat after me:
Being busy all the time is not good or cool or impressive.

Taking care of yourself, now that’s cool ♥️

What does summer mean to you?

Summer to me is family, heat, sandy feet and salty hair. It's Spain.

It’s late nights, aperitivos, and naps on the swing.
It’s soaking in the warm Mediterranean water until you’re wrinkled to the core.
It's cooling down with any icy horchata or ice cream in the shape of a foot or pencil (if you know, you know 😉).
It's spending time with cousins, evolving from playing in the kiddie pool to dancing the night away with them.
It’s family gatherings for special occasions, and regular days with grandparents, aunts and uncles that cover you in kisses and make you feel so loved and missed.
It’s loud restaurants, shrimp heads on the floor, and the sound of women stroking fans against their chest in church.
It’s foam parties, bonfires, being friends with the older kids, and my first big crush.
It’s coming back to California at the end of the summer with goodies and stories for my best friends.

It’s adventure, freedom, happiness.
It’s family, it’s culture, it’s roots.

Since I was 3 years old I’ve spent practically every summer of my life in Spain. As a kid I loved it but didn’t realize just how fortunate I was.
As an adult, now I see, having a bicultural upbringing is a blessing. And those summer moments (both the exciting and the mundane) are so special to me ♥️

So, happy first day of summer, my friends! May it bring you happy memories and new adventures!

Are you avoiding something right now because you’re worried you’ll fail or be judged?

As much as we may not like it, difficult moments and challenges are important parts of life. They give us experience, make us learn, and help us become stronger and, dare I say, wiser 😉

Problems make us grow and shape us.

I know, it sucks. No one wants to struggle or suffer. But it’s true. Just think about a time you did something hard, and how you felt went you achieved it or overcame it.

We often wish or hope for a life without problems or setbacks, don’t we? But I have to say, I think that’s an impossible goal. Even those people we sometimes compare ourselves to (you know, the ones that seem to just have everything going their way), I assure you life is hard for them at times too. We will all face troubles. The difference is how we deal with the hard moments and challenges that occur.

So I challenge myself (and you!) to not run away from the difficulties we’re facing.

If you’re a perfectionist like me, you may find yourself avoiding the challenges in life. Probably not intentionally or consciously, but you are.
Don’t.
Don’t ignore them or try to hide from them.
Face them.
Deal with them.

Ask yourself if you’re avoiding something because you’re afraid you’ll fail at it. Then ask yourself what REALLY would happen if you failed? What about if you succeed? Have you thought about that?

The greatest growth in life and the most important lessons you will learn often come when we face and deal with a problem. I know it’s not easy, but I’m here going through it too. Like countless others, trying to do the work to reach my beautiful destination.

We can do hard things ♥️
