Sweet boy Peanut! 🥜 I had the privilege of treating Peanut 4 years ago following his TPLO! I am now seeing him again all these years on after a nasty injury. It’s so good to see him doing so well and he definitely remembered me 🥰

Thank you for continuing to choose me, it means so much 😁

Dolly post treatment 🥰

Dolly is a rescued racing greyhound and her years of racing mean she is sadly quite arthritic. However we keep her more comfortable and maintain strength with regular sessions. Her owners always see a difference post treatment and more importantly, she absolutely loves it! 💞

🌞 New research has shown, to increase survival rates in dogs with heatstroke, dogs need to be cooled down with COLD water ASAP.

It used to be thought that cold water could cause them to go into shock but this is not the case.

💦🛁 For young healthy dogs, immersing them in cold water (ensuring their head is above the water) is best.

💦🚿 For older dogs or dogs with underlying health conditions, pouring cool water over them is preferred. This should be combined with evaporation - such as putting them in front of a fan.

🌡️Rapid cooling saves lives!
The longer a dog's temperature 🌡️ remains high, the more damage is likely. Delaying cooling or ineffective cooling, substantially reduces a dogs chance of survival.

Once the dog is cool, they can then be taken to the vets but please make sure the car is cool first and there is adequate ventilation.

Some dogs are more prone to heatstroke:

🐕 Short nosed brachycephalic breeds such as Pugs, Bulldogs and French Bulldogs.
🐕‍🦺Dogs with thick coats.
🐩Dogs with underlying health issues.
🦮Overweight pets.
🐶Very young and very old pets.

As my old dad says....
Prevention is better than cure...

⛱️ Make sure your pets have access to cool shaded areas.
🦮 Walk early morning or late evening when it's cooler.
🍶 Take a water bottle with you on a walk.
💦 Ensure your pets always have fresh drinking water available, adding ice cubes can keep it cool 🧊.
🐩 Ensure your dog is regularly groomed.

Yesterday we managed lovely Henry’s session in the garden under the tree. 🌳

Today however is just too too hot. I have taken the very difficult decision to cancel today’s sessions and have contacted everyone regarding tomorrow. Welfare is top priority and quite honestly I am also melting 🥵

When you are self employed taking the decision to cancel work is a very big one and not something I’d do lightly. Thank you for your understanding.

Stay cool everyone.

Remember- no walkies, lots of water and if an event of overheating does occur soak your dog with COLD water and get straight to the vets.
