Partners*, this one's for you. Most antenatal classes tell you to plan the route to the hospital and how to change a nappy or worse, they ignore you completely! At The Unbiased Birth Club we know the importance of a support persons role in labour, birth, postpartum recovery and newborn care. Not just hand holding and counting breaths but allll the nitty gritty stuff that is actually useful throughout your journey to parenthood.

Every one of our seven modules contains a specific, detailed and practical guide for partners including all the stuff that nobody tells you like:
✨️ Important conversations you need to have before the baby comes
✨️ What transition looks like so you can recognise exactly what support is needed when
✨️ What to expect from a caesarean birth or postpartum surgery - including where you'll be asked to wait at Broomfield Hospital and what you'll need to do
✨️ How to make medical decisions together and advocate confidently on your partners behalf if needed
✨️ The signs of postnatal depression to look out for and where to ask for help
✨️ What bonding with the baby actually looks like in the early months

*Every family and support system is unique and we welcome everybody at The Unbiased Birth Club. A partner or support person could be a romantic partner, a family member, a best friend or a doula! Every family structure, gender identity and path to parenthood will always be met with equal warmth, celebration and respect. Language really matters and our course materials are intentionally designed to be inclusive of all parents, co-parents and chosen support people. ❤️

Across our course, we have 3 live online sessions (each 2.5 hours long) and we have 2 in-person socials in Chelmsford (one when you're pregnant and one once all the little bubbas are here!) 🥳

💻 Our online antenatal sessions give you all the information you need to genuinely prepare you for labour, birth, postpartum recovery and newborn care. We cover anything and everything from early labour signs and interventions to what to expect from postpartum bleeding and the realities of newborn sleep! You can learn from the comfort of your own home and we share recordings in case you or your partner miss anything.

📒 We also give you our ultimate unbiased birth handbook that has all the course notes plus so much more. There's lots of information to take in so this means that you'll still have a clear evidence-based, unbiased guide on all sorts of topics that you can look at whenever you need to.

🎉 Our socials are a chance to meet the rest of your cohort in person to start building your local village to support each other as new parents. You'll all be due within a month or so of each other so it's a great support network to have. We also have a WhatsApp support group where you can bond over sleepless nights and ask any questions.

Being out and about with a newborn can be really daunting as a new mum, so here are some of my favourite places to pop into. They have good baby changing facilities and are comfortable spots to feed your baby in, whether you're breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

1. ACANTEEN / ABAR
2. John Lewis Chelmsford
3.High Chelmer
4. Everyman
5. Chelmsford Central Family Hub
An additional mention to M&S in town which has a huuuge baby changing room so you're not trying to figure out how to squeeze in your buggy or turn it around without touching the toilet! 😅

For any Chelmsford parents out there, have I missed any? What are your favourite baby friendly places? Let us know in the comments! 💬

I've poured over a year of research into this course so that you will always get:
📖 Accurate evidence-based information
📖 An understanding of when and why NHS guidance does not always follow the evidence
📖 Signposting to useful resources and medical research on a huge array of topics so that you can delve into the evidence yourself if you need to (or if you're simply nerdy like me and want to!)

And you will never ever get any judgement on your decisions or preferences - I genuinely believe that there is no "right" way to give birth and all I want is for you to have the information you need to make whatever decision feels right for YOU.

I strongly believe that everyone should have access to genuinely unbiased and evidence-based information to be able to make fully informed decisions about their care at one of the most important times in their lives. This is the fundamental, founding principle of The Unbiased Birth Club. 🌟

If this sounds like your sort of thing, then give us a follow and if you're expecting a baby this winter, then class bookings are open so head over to our website and secure your place today!

Yes it's just about parking... but to add that stress on top of what is a really tough and vulnerable time, not only physically but also emotionally and financially, can be really difficult. When I was pregnant, I remember how much I used to stress about parking at Broomfield Hospital before difficult consultant appointments (that I was already super anxious about!) It's just another layer that nobody wants to deal with.

So if you're pregnant and you're battling swollen feet and this sweltering heat and stressful hospital parking all while growing an 👏🏾 entire 👏🏾 human 👏🏾 being 👏🏾 - I see you and I feel for you and you're doing bloody amazing ❤️

In case you missed it, here's my interview with BBC News talking about how the increased parking charges at Broomfield Hospital are affecting local pregnant women.

Thank you for the lovely Henry Godfrey-Evans | Journalist and BBC Ess*x for interviewing me! And to the wonderful Rosalind Wright for taking part ❤️
Mid and South Ess*x NHS Trust - pretty please sort it out 🙏🏽
