PrEP
Stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, and is for people who are at risk of getting HIV but don't already have it. PrEP can be taken as a pill every day or as an injection every two months. It can reduce the risk of HIV and stop it from spreading if exposure occurs. PrEP can also help pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying-to-get-pregnant people and their babies avoid HIV.

PEP
Stands for post-exposure prophylaxis, and is for people who have possibly been exposed to HIV. PEP is only for emergency situations and must be started within 72 hours of exposure. PEP is not meant for regular use, and it shouldn't replace other HIV prevention methods like condoms or PrEP.
