We are pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy R. Donahue has been appointed Chair of the Department of Surgery Weill Cornell Medicine Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital effective September 1.

An internationally recognized surgeon-scientist specializing in pancreatic cancer, Dr. Donahue will lead efforts to strengthen collaboration across the department’s 13 divisions, bringing together clinicians, researchers, educators, engineers, nurses, advanced practice providers, and trainees to advance patient care, scientific discovery, and surgical education.

Dr. Donahue envisions a future where innovative research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence—help expand access to high-quality care and improve outcomes for patients across Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian campuses.
