Treating the same patient for cellulitis again and again?

Recurrent cellulitis in a limb can be a sign of underlying lymphoedema, and each episode can cause further damage to the lymphatic system.

It is a cycle worth interrupting.

Lymphoedema assessment and management, including skin care, compression and the right support, can reduce recurrence and improve quality of life.

If your patient experiences repeated cellulitis, consider a referral to an ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner.

Volunteer Wanted – Free Scar Therapy Case Study

I am currently seeking one volunteer to participate in a scar therapy case study as part of my Restore Oncology Scar Specialist training.

The case study is open to anyone with a healed scar following cancer surgery or who is experiencing scar-related concerns after radiotherapy (treatment completed and the area healed for at least 8 weeks).

While participants with any suitable cancer-related scar are welcome, I have a special interest in supporting people following breast cancer surgery and would especially love to work with a volunteer who has a breast cancer-related scar.

Older, mature scars are very welcome.

The case study includes two complimentary treatment sessions.

But wait there is more on cellulitus and infections! The LAA website has an information document about cellulitus that is worth having in your toolbox to give to your GP or if a visit to A&E is required for suspected cellulitus. Forewarned is forearmed. You are not alone on this journey.

Another tip for management of cellulitus: If you have a red hot area on your body and you are uncertain if it is an infection cellulitus, mark the outline of the red area with a pen or texta to monitor if the area is changing. Call your doctor or visit A&E should you have any concerns.
