We would like to sincerely thank Tipperary County Council for their support and funding towards the renovation of our counselling room in Cahir.

This investment has helped us improve our facilities and create a more welcoming, comfortable and supportive environment for the individuals and families who access our services.

Partnerships like this make a real difference in communities, and we are extremely grateful for the Council's commitment to supporting wellbeing and recovery across Tipperary.

In early August, a group of staff & ex-residents continued their Camino journey for the 4th year & walked from Sahagun to Ponferrada.
A trip that continues to grow from strength to strength & a shared experience like no other.

To the group, old & new, thank you for all you bring each year 🙏
Next year, having walked some 600km to date, we head for Santiago & we're already excited to get planning.

Choosing Recovery

Recovery happens more often by choice than by chance.

When I chose recovery, I was choosing life. It wasn't an easy decision, and it wasn't a decision I made just once. Recovery is something I continue to choose every single day.

I often think of those we've loved and lost before they had the chance to make that choice, and those who wanted recovery but didn't act on it in time. Every choice has consequences, and sometimes that consequence is life itself.

Today, I remain grateful for the choice I made and for the opportunity to help others see that recovery is possible for them too.

💜 Recovery is real. Recovery is possible. Recovery is worth choosing.

Medallion Day Cahir, Joe O’Neill read a brilliant poem that he wrote for the day which clearly depicts ‘Addiction’ ‘Rehab’ & ‘Recovery’ 🙏 thank you for sharing

Part 1 – Addiction

I lived in the darkness
Between the Devil and Despair.
In that place where I abandoned love
And ran and hid from those
Who truly care.

Deeper and deeper I fell
When every morning awoken to
Was a newer version of Hell.
The look of fear on a loved one’s face
A child’s sense of dread.
I pulled excuses from the Liar’s place
And believed them in my head.

Behind me only Ruin
Around me only Pain,
Within me the taunting voice
“Go do it once again”.

Part 2 – Rehab

But I reached out.
Swallowed the addict’s Pride,
Came to a place that did not judge
Or find the need to Hide.

I trembled in Fear and Doubt
Exposed, Broken, Raw
I was taught to look for the beauty within
And not to feed the Flaw.

I was taught to visit
All my Pain,
To a place where a child was broken
And to talk of things that heretofore
Never once were spoken.

I was taught to look
To simple things,
Not found in an Ivory Tower
To hold the space
Where a little bird sings
And to look to a Higher Power.

Not to a God that Punishes
But to a spirit that Understands,
Where once with fists
I beat my Soul
I opened out my Hands.

Part 3 – Recovery 💕

And now I walk with
Opened Eyes
And speak with an opened heart,
I know how tentative the Trust
For what I tore apart.

I know how long the journey takes
I know the Crooked Way,
I know of nothing a Promise makes
If I don’t live the truth today.

And You were with me all the time
You, who should have went,
The ones I Hurt and Tortured
And whose Time and Love I spent
On feeding what was Taunting
On keeping alive the Lie
That the Voices in the Haunting
Were the ones to live by.

I pin not a Medal to my chest
But a Vision to my Soul,
That life’s worth living at its best
When that life’s again made Whole.

Today I wake in Gratitude
And hold what I have Found.
One Day at a Time
Journeyed on Solid Ground.

"Can you keep a secret?"
You asked with your sweet smile,
Powerlessly, I nodded,
It felt blissful for a while.

One summer's day you took me out,
"It's only just one bag,"
You handed me some he**in,
"Go on... take a drag."

Hypnotised by golden brown,
Texture like the sun,
You held me in your dungeon,
I thought you were the one.

Seduced by your dark magic,
You had me on a string,
Anytime you wanted me,
I was reeled back in.

Magnetically you drew me in,
I danced with you at night,
But morning kept on coming,
I could not put up the fight.

You cast a spell of sadness,
Yet you promised me the lot,
You kept me needing more and more,
You tied me in a knot.

Whenever you came knocking,
I opened up my door,
You took away my dignity,
And wiped me with the floor.

I ran away avoiding you,
But got caught of my own accord,
You followed me round everywhere,
I was just too worn.

You had me sweating buckets,
You had me climbing walls,
You subjected me to violence,
Heartache, and many falls.

Eventually, I stepped away,
I was desperate for help,
You followed me to Aiséirí,
Where I tried to find myself.

Throughout my stay you talked to me,
Telling me to run away,
I argued with you constantly,
But you answered back,"No way."

One autumn day in Aiséirí,
My resurrection came through fear,
The restoring of my sanity,
Helped me pray you'd disappear.

Tear by tear, step by step,
I sent you on your way,
Fearlessly I took the reins,
"Why?" I heard you say.

I know you'll try to beckon me,
You're patient and you're slick,
But I'll stand tall, refuse to fall,
When you crack your whip.

Goodbye my dear addiction,
You know I've had enough,
Your P45 awaits you,
Farewell, now f**k off.
