Why Spring is the best time for psychological evaluations!
One of the best times of year for a student to get a psychological evaluation is late spring or early summer, as the school year winds down. This timing allows students to be tested in a lower-stress environment (after most of the key school work for the year is done), and gives families and schools time to review results and put necessary supports like IEP or 504 plans in place before the next academic year begins.
Additionally, a student's teachers and staff have had 7–9 months to observe them. which means that they have already observed key learning differences, behavioral issues, or social struggles and are able to transmit this to the evaluators and psychologists.

Key Concepts we Practice in Might Minds!
We teach kids to navigate big emotions without getting swept away. Through mindfulness and brain science, kids learn to notice what’s happening in their bodies and practice pausing before reacting. We blend research-backed skills with fun, experiential games and make building resilience engaging. Here are some key terms we use to help kids navigate their feelings with more ease and confidence - click through the slides to get an overview of each!
-Volcano analogy
-Smoke detector analogy
-Lizard Brain or the emotional part of the brain, or the amygdala
-Kind Coach or helpful thinking vs. unkind coach or unhelpful thinking

Stress management practices are most critical at the exact moments we have the least time and energy for them.
If you’re feeling stretched thin, start with the Foundations:
Check-in regularly: How are you feeling right now? What do you actually need?
Meet basic physical needs: Food, hydration, sleep. Non-negotiable.
Habit-stack: Pair a small mindfulness or check-in habit with something you already do daily (like brushing your teeth).
Set boundaries: Saying "yes" to a minor distraction means saying "no" to your own well-being. Saying "no" can be a beautiful thing.
