Irma Ellis

Irma Ellis passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 87 years old.

Irma was born on June 21, 1939, in Tilburg, Holland, to Kurt Muller and Maria Josephina Klijsen. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Leonard Leon Ellis, and together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, love, and hard work.

Irma was a talented seamstress who took great pride in her work. Throughout her career, she worked at several places, including McRae’s, Belk, and Norman Shirt Makers. She continued working for many years before retiring around the age of 70. Her skill with her hands extended far beyond her profession, as she greatly enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Irma also had a special love for flowers, cooking, and caring for those around her. One of her greatest joys was preparing meals and making sure her family was well fed. She loved her family deeply and was happiest when she could spend time with them, care for them, and provide for the people she loved. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her creativity, her devotion to her family, and the love she showed through the many things she did for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt Muller and Maria Josephina Klijsen; her brother, John Muller; her granddaughter, Brandy Wallace; and her great-granddaughter, Lillian Brandy Adele Moudy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Leon Ellis; her daughters, Judi Ellis, Kathie Hyatt, and Monica Martin; her grandchildren, Jordan Martin Owen, Caylee Moudy, Christian Martin, and David Martin; two great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; and her sister, Sophia Wirth.

Irma’s life was one of love, service, family, and dedication. The memories she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, the things she made with her hands, and the care she gave to her family will remain a treasured part of her legacy for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Wren Hammons

Wren Hammons passed away on August 29, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 85.

Wren was born on January 9, 1941, in Mendenhall, MS to Glen and Odell Tullos. She grew up in Braxton, MS and moved to Jackson, MS in 1954. Soon after, she would meet her husband and love of her life, Mr. Lawrence “Penny” Hammons. Together, they would go on to be married 71 years, raising 3 sons and being highly active grandparents to 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Wren was a wife and a full-time stay-at-home mom. She cherished those roles and excelled in them. Nobody could cook quite like Wren and if you were lucky enough to get the recipe, it wouldn’t turn out quite as good as her version. She loved to host family and long-time friends – whether it was a simple cup of afternoon coffee or a full-blown meal. She adamantly insisted on hosting her family for the Holidays and by “Holiday” she meant THE day and not the day before it or after it. Regardless, the food was hot, consistently delicious and abundant and you always knew to be on time. Wren also enjoyed decorating her house throughout the year with tea sets, carousels and anything that sparkled or glittered.

Wren loved to travel with her husband Penny and they would take their RV to Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri. She loved her dog Sugar, which was her fur baby child and would go on to have 4 additional Sugars through the years - and loved every one of them dearly. Wren will be remembered for being a devoted wife, a mother who loved her sons and never gave up on them, and loving her grandchildren as if they were her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Penny Hammons; her father, Glen Tullos; her mother, Odell Tullos; her son, Keith Hammons; and her sister, Charlene Tracey. Their memories remained an enduring part of her life and will continue to be held close by all who remember her.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Hammons (Cindy) of Jackson, MS, and Wally Hammons of Raymond, MS. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Dewayne Hammons (Jennifer) of Brandon, MS; Tanya Long (James) of Brandon, MS; Derek Hammons (Becky) of Flowood, MS and Sheri' Walters of Raymond.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Eli Passans, Gracie Barr (Beau), Levi Long, Allie Hammons, Bryce Buchanan, Tuff Sistrunk, Ridge Hammons, Lake Hammons, and Hattie Rose Hammons along with her Great Great-Grandchild Owen Reed Passans. Their lives stand as a lasting reflection of the family she loved so deeply.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on August 31, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home Byram Location, 7225 S Siwell Rd, Byram, Mississippi 39272. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the same location. A graveside service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

Judy Ann Herr Henley

Judy Ann Henley, age 73, went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on August 26, 2026, after a long battle with systemic scleroderma.

She was a compassionate woman of strong Christian faith who had a heart for the lost, the sick, and the hungry. She loved travelling all over the world during her retirement and enjoyed experiencing God’s beautiful creation.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence, Mississippi, where she sang in the choir and volunteered in the church food pantry. She was a passionate musician. She was a soprano vocalist and played the Mountain Dulcimer. As a high school student, she was asked by her choral director to sing for the internationally known opera singer and Mississippi-native, Leontyne Price. Ms. Price marveled at her voice and strongly encouraged her to pursue music.

She married the love of her life, Travis S. Henley, on May 19, 1973. Her greatest joy was the Lord and her family.

She is survived by two loving sons, Eddie (Vickie) Henley of Oxford, Mississippi and Matt (Amy) Henley of Pearl, Mississippi; four cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Isaac, Declan and Micah; a sister, Francis Gintz; sister-in-law, Glenda Henley Weems; and brother-in-law, Dan Henley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Travis S. Henley; her parents, Edward Charles Herr II and Inez W. Herr; her brother, Edward Charles Herr III; her sister, Ellen McCowin, and her father-in-law, Charles Haven Henley.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 31 at First Baptist Church of Florence, Mississippi. Visitation will be held Sunday night, August 30 from 5-8 pm at First Baptist Church, Florence, Mississippi. She is to be laid to rest in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in Mantee, Mississippi.

Jon Lyndon Robinson

Jon Lyndon Robinson, 57, passed away at Baptist Hospital on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He was born on April 28, 1969, in Braintree, Essex, England, to Joe Don Robinson, Sr. and Kathleen Maria Crozier. Jon spent most of his life in Jackson, Mississippi, where he made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Following in his father's footsteps, Jon became an electrician. He worked for several companies throughout his career and traveled for his work. His dedication to his trade allowed him to see many places while building a career he could be proud of.

Jon loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. But perhaps what people will remember most about Jon was his personality. He loved life and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. He had a truly “happy-go-lucky” disposition and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome.

Jon loved everyone he encountered and was known for his generous heart. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His kindness, laughter, and genuine love for others made him someone who was easy to love and impossible to forget.

Jon was a member of Byram Assembly of God, where he loved his church family and found fellowship and friendship among those around him.

His best friend and great love was his sweet dog, Molly. Jon rescued Molly when she was a puppy, but his family and friends knew that, in reality, Molly rescued him, as pets often do. She was his constant companion and was always by his side. Their bond was a special one, and Molly was an important part of Jon's life.

Jon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Victor and Tina Robinson; his maternal grandparents, Bert and Betty Crozier; and his father, Joe Don Robinson, Sr.

He leaves behind his precious mother, Kathleen Robinson of Jackson, Mississippi; his brother, Joe Don “Joey” Robinson, Jr. of Jackson; and his aunts, Sue Bell of Atlanta, Georgia, and Frances Robinson of Terry, Mississippi. He also leaves behind some cousins and one cousin who meant a great deal to him, Dr. Sharron Bewely, who takes care of Molly.

Jon also leaves behind a lady who he shared a very special bond with, Cheri Campbell, whom he lovingly referred to as his “second mom.”

Jon will be remembered for his bright smile, generous heart, devotion to his family and church, and the joy he brought to everyone he met. He lived life with an open heart and a willingness to love and help others. Though his time here was far too short, the warmth of his spirit and the memories he created will remain with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.

Shirley Marie McPhail Jones

Shirley Marie McPhail Jones (86) passed away on August 8, 2026, in Flowood, Mississippi. She was born on February 6, 1940, in Carson, Mississippi of Jefferson Davis County, to Hovis and Margie McPhail.

From the young age of three, Shirley knew that one day she wanted to become a nurse. She fulfilled that childhood calling and devoted 40 years of her life to nursing and caring for others. Her career both began and ended at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, while the majority of those years were spent serving patients at Central Orthopedic Clinic. Caring for people was more than a profession for Shirley; it was simply part of who she was.

Shirley was also a gifted artist with a beautiful talent for oil painting, an interest she actively pursued while working, raising her two daughters, and building a life with her husband of 62 years, Gerald Milton Jones.

Her faith was at the center of her life. Shirley was a devoted and active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she served in countless ways throughout the years. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and nursery, served with the youth ministry, participated on committees, and was always willing to lend a hand wherever one was needed.

Although Shirley accomplished much through her nursing career, her artwork, and her service to her church, nothing brought her greater pride or joy than her family. She dearly loved her siblings and made it a priority to bring the family together regularly, creating opportunities for brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and cousins to visit, laugh, and make memories together.

Above all else was Shirley’s love for God and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived her faith through the way she cared for people, served others, and loved her family. Showing God’s love to those around her was not simply something she spoke about—it was the way she chose to live her life.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gerald Milton Jones; her sister, Connie Joann McPhail; her father, Hovis McPhail; and her mother, Margie McPhail Magee.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy McPhail McLean; her brothers, Glenn McPhail and Ronald McPhail; her daughters, Lisa Bourgoyne and husband Tray of Raymond, Mississippi, and Amy Myers and husband Bill of Madison, Mississippi; and her four grandchildren, Brooke Melton and husband Garrett, Austin Myers, Brad Myers, and Aaden Myers. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Inky.

Shirley’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply, the countless people she cared for during her years as a nurse, the church family she faithfully served, and the example of faith and love she leaves behind.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 5950 Terry Road, Byram, MS 39272 on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12 pm with the Service at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Donnetta Goss Hammack

Donnetta Goss Hammack, born July 14, 1935, passed away on August 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy defined by dedication to family, career, community, and faith.

Donnetta was the beloved wife of William Hammack for 70 years and the cherished mother of three sons: Mark Hammack; Mike Hammack and his wife Kathleen; and Wesley Hammack and his wife Maria; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren She is also survived by her sister, Co**ie Fazio. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Goss and Lela Goss, as well as her late sisters, Becky Jay and Jimmie Wagner.

Professionally, Donnetta devoted many years to Bellsouth, where her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on those she worked with. Her service extended beyond her career, as she was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she previously sang in the choir, giving her time and talents to her faith community.

Donnetta found great joy in gardening, tending to her flowers with care and passion.

Dr. Bill Sellers, Jr

Dr. William Edd Sellers, Jr. (Bill Jr.), 62, passed and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on July 23, 1964, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to William Edd Sellers, Sr. and Virginia Shows Sellers.

Bill’s legacy is one of education, service, leadership, giving back to others, his love of the Lord, and his family. His greatest joy was found spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies.

Bill served in Education for 38 years within Jackson Public Schools and Hinds County Schools. He served as a high school History Teacher and Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, and an Assistant Superintendent. His career was more than a profession-it was a calling. During his years of dedication, Bill influenced generations of students, teachers, and administrators through his leadership, knowledge, and genuine care for others.

Outside of his career, Bill loved hunting, singing and playing guitar, cooking, studying the word of God, and above all else spending time with his family. Family was the most important thing to him, though the grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart. They affectionately referred to him as “Ba Bad”.

Bill was also deeply committed to service through the Masonic organizations to help the community, especially the children. He was a 3rd generation Master Mason and a past Master of Capitol Lodge #600. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, where he was honored to serve as the General Secretary of the Valley of Jackson. He was currently serving as the Potentate of Wahabi Shrine.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill Edd” Sellers and Virginia Sellers.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Tina Clark Sellers; his two daughters, Darla McDaniel (Robert) of Cleveland, MS, and Kaitlyn French (Beau) of Pearl, MS; his three cherished grandchildren, Robyn McDaniel, William McDaniel, and Jonathan “JB” French, Jr.; and his brother, Bob Sellers (Kristi) of Raymond, MS, along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He will be remembered fondly by the many lives he was a part of, people he mentored, the community he served, and especially for the love he had for his family.

Family and friends are invited to gather together to honor Bill’s life, celebrate his legacy, and share the memories of a man who gave so much.

Clarence Emmett Marble, Jr

Clarence Emmett Marble, Jr., passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on May 24, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Clarence Emmett Marble, Sr. and Wilma Jewel Moore.

Clarence proudly served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the banking industry, where he worked for many years before retiring.

Clarence had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was also a devoted sports fan and spent many years coaching a variety of sports, including soccer. Through coaching, he was able to share his love of sports while encouraging and mentoring others.

His faith was an important part of Clarence's life. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, where he taught Senior Leaders Sunday School as well as Senior Bible Study. His commitment to his church and his desire to share his faith were an important part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Above all, Clarence loved his family. He treasured family gatherings and every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and making memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Emmett Marble, Sr. and Wilma Jewel Moore.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sara Roberson Marble. He is also survived by his sons, Richard Somers, Chris Marble (Karen), Casy Marble (Christy), and Brad Somers (Brooke); and his daughter, Mollie Reynolds (Shane).

His memory will continue through his six grandchildren, Amanda Langston, Matthew Langston, Brady Somers, Lucy Somers, Ainsleigh Reynolds, and Savanna Somers, and his great-grandson, Jaxon Langston.

He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Tessitore and Tressa Horton (Gary), along with extended family and many friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

Clarence will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant, sportsman, coach, and friend. His love of family, his faith, his service to others, and the memories he created with those around him will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Barbara Ann Mullins

Barbara Ann Mullins, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Born Barbara Ann Dear on September 6, 1942, in Simpson County, Mississippi, she brought warmth and kindness to every life she touched during her remarkable 83 years.

Barbara lived her life rooted in faith, love of family, and devotion to those she cared about. As a dedicated member of Harrisville Baptist Church, Barbara embodied the spirit of compassion and generosity, nurturing friendships and extending a helping hand to her community. Her faith was quietly steadfast and formed the foundation upon which she built her life.

Barbara’s heart was at home in the company of her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her three children, Laura Lee Mullins, Cheryl Alliston, and David (Phyllis) Mullins, mourn her passing with heavy hearts but remain eternally grateful for her unwavering guidance and affection.

The deep bonds she shared with her grandchildren—Melissa White, Larami Brunson, Garrett Alliston, and Mandy Gammill—filled her days with joy. She was also cherished by her greatgrandchildren, Byran, Emma, Lacey, Ryle, and Hayden, whose laughter and accomplishments brought her endless pride and delight. Barbara’s sister, Anita Smiley, shares in the sorrow of losing a beloved sibling and friend.

Barbara’s devotion to her family extended beyond nurturing—she was a caretaker in every sense of the word. Known for her love of cooking, she filled kitchens and hearts with comforting meals and the warmth of home. Her nurturing hands tended not only to her family but also to her gardens and yard, where she found solace and joy among blooming flowers and freshly tilled earth. Evenings often found her enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, reflecting on the simple pleasures of a life well lived.

Barbara now joins her beloved husband, Phil Mullins, who preceded her in death, as well as her parents, Holland Dear and Mamie Bridges Dear. She is also reunited with sisters Mary Lou Arender, Gettis Paul, Wilma Bridges, Lottie Barrett, Grace Shivers, Sally Greer, and Mae Ellis Vance, whose memories she held dear.

The legacy of Barbara Ann Mullins is woven through the kindness she gave, the faith she lived, and the family she cherished. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her.

Janice Deloris Launius

Janice Deloris Launius passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 17, 1941 to Leo Albert McNair and Mary Gertrude Davidson McNair of Carthage, MS. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose greatest joy was the family she loved so dearly.

Janice adored her family and loved nothing more than cooking and baking for them. She was known for her wonderful baking, and her family will always remember some of her specialties, including pineapple upside-down cake, homemade Reese’s peanut butter cups, and her famous homemade cream cheese frosting. The love she put into preparing food for those around her was one of the many ways she showed how much she cared.

Janice also had a deep love for gardening. She could spend hours tending to her flowerbeds and had an amazing ability to identify almost any flower or tree simply by sight. Her garden was a reflection of the patience, beauty, and care she brought to everything she did.

She enjoyed going to the casino with her late husband, Leroy, and with her family. Those who accompanied her knew they had better keep up because Janice was a fast walker! No matter where she was going, she walked with purpose, and anyone who walked too slowly might find themselves trying to catch up.

Janice was a kindhearted woman who looked after her neighbors and friends. Whether she was preparing a meal for someone in need or taking the time to talk with them about the Lord, she was always willing to give of herself. Her faith was an important part of her life.

Janice was a member of Van Winkle United Methodist Church and, after her children were born, became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed attending Country Woods Baptist Church with her daughter, Sheryl. Her love for the Lord and desire to share her faith were evident in the way she cared for others.To her grandchildren, Janice was affectionately known as “Momo,” and she carried the special nickname “Mommy Doll.” These names reflected the love, comfort, and special place she held in the hearts of her family.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leroy Launius; her siblings, Pat Meskimen and Jerry McNair; and her son-in-law, Mario Elfeki.

She leaves behind her two devoted daughters, Sonia Elfeki and Sheryl Boykin; her stepchildren, Sandy Launius, James Launius, and Perry Launius; her grandchildren, Amanda Harrell (Bo) and Mario Elfeki; and her great-grandchildren, Hayden Harrell and Aaliyah Harrell.

She is also survived by her brothers, Will “Bud” McNair (Jeanette) and Harley McNair (Lorraine); and her beloved “sisters-in-love,” Juanita Harrison and Nonny Sterns.

Janice leaves behind a host of nieces, including Rhonda Davin, Dianne McNair Moore, Mary Keller, Lissa Prell, Nikki Applewhite, Donna Ausborn, Katharine Hankins, and Danielle Rajeski; and nephews, Harlan Williamson, William Boykin, Craig McNair, Scott McNair, Mike McNair, and Brian McNair.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her lifelong friend, Christine Miller, and by those who became like daughters to her, Jennifer Crow, Arlene Akers, and Janet Keith.

Janice's life was filled with faith, family, laughter, love, and service to others. She leaves behind countless memories—from the meals and desserts she lovingly prepared, to her beautiful gardens, her quick footsteps, her casino adventures, and the many conversations she shared about the Lord. Her love will continue to live on through the generations of family and friends she leaves behind.

Though her family will miss her dearly, they can find comfort knowing that Janice is now at peace and has been welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior.
