We cannot wait to hear from our 2026 Conference keynote speakers!

Chris Dawson will present Reframing Classroom Practice: An Introduction to the Berry Street Education Model, exploring how the Berry Street Education Model provides practical, trauma-informed strategies to support student wellbeing, self-regulation, engagement, and learning, while highlighting the important role school psychologists play in embedding these approaches across whole-school systems.

Professor Aaron Jarden will present Beyond Wellbeing to Wholebeing, examining what wellbeing is, its strengths and limitations, and introducing the concept of “wholebeing” through a systems lens. Using a school-based case study, this session will explore how wellbeing connects with learning, health, resilience, and whole-school practice.

Find out more about our keynote speakers and workshops, and register for the conference at www.spawa.org/events

Members who register before August 21st will go into the draw to win a range of early bird prizes, including free conference registration, SPAWA membership, and parking.

Meet the Committee ✨

We hope you have enjoyed getting to know more about the people behind the committee who volunteer their time, ideas, and expertise to support SPAWA.

Our final committee member introduction is Brendan, SPAWA’s current longest-serving committee member. Over the past 22 years, Brendan has generously volunteered countless hours, shared his expertise, and helped shape the association in ways that have benefited members and the school psychology profession.

To conclude, we wanted to share one more of Brendan’s responses that we couldn’t fit on the visual, but felt needed to be shared.

What is your biggest piece of advice for other Psychologists?

“Anyone who knows me won’t be surprised that I can’t answer this in one sentence… my advice is to connect, engage and share. Connect – even in a large, interconnected service, it’s easy to feel isolated. Reach out and check in with colleagues. Engage – show up authentically in your school or work site; relationships matter. Share – having been involved in the SPAWA Awards in the past, I’ve seen how much inspiring practice goes unseen. Too often, our skills and expertise aren’t fully recognised or utilised. Sharing our stories, challenges and learning helps bring that work into the light, strengthens our collective voice, and helps us truly inform and inspire.”
