I remember seeing this on a Primary school trip to France.. 🇫🇷

I also went on a trip in secondary to Greece with my school..

My schools were not specialist, the teachers just had more autonomy I think, around how they supported children like me with SEND..

I wasn’t diagnosed till I was an adult, but if you read my school reports.. it was clear..

No one wrote down what support I needed on an EHCP.. no assessments were carried out..

But I was supported well enough to travel the world, with my peers, without my parents..

I felt safe, I felt included and I made memories that have last a lifetime..

It was possible..
It is possible..

Do you struggle finding a safe support network for fun or even work/emergencies?

Today has been about connection..

Neurodivergent connections, connections with nature and transport..

Connecting with history and dopamine hunting/shopping.. 😂

Basically I’ve been out and about, working supporting and having fun with kids so their parents could access work life..

Delivering child focused care in a family home or out in the community has always been one of my favourite things to do..

Building genuine relationships so that every family member feels understood and gets a break from the norm..

Whether support has been a one off family support scenario, allowing kids to be safe at home and parents to go partying or to work, or if it’s for more consistent and long term support, like enabling a child to access alternative provision or supporting and facilitating home education for a family, whilst the parents go off to work..

I love closing that gap for families who have tried babysitters or family and friends even, and found they are not suited to childcare for their ND kids..

So many parents are completely isolated, and children end up feeling like only their parents ‘get them’..

I have a lot of experience supporting PDAers and I am one.. so I completely get it. It’s hard to find someone you even feel safe allowing into your home.

So if you would like info regarding the emergency or more regular support I can and have offered..

Inside Devon I can offer days, evenings or consistent support for shorter periods..

For families outside of Devon I can offer 24hrs to 5 days respite in your home, or for your child to come to mine.

I can also attend special events or vacations, as a sidekick or extra pair of hands.
