Anatomy of Healing

A subconscious self-portrait made from fragments of my own photographs, books and album sleeves. This piece emerged in a flow state, where I surrendered control and let something deeper speak through me.

It maps the inner terrain of my healing journey with cancer—grief, fear, resilience, transformation. Multiple versions of myself appear: silent, screaming, watching, emerging. Owls, clocks, trees, and faces echo the language of the soul and body as they reconnect.

This is what healing looks like when it’s not linear—when it’s felt, lived, and witnessed from the inside out.

My scan results were a cause for celebration today! 🍾
All remains stable and well under control 😁 No new growths, and the cancer all seems to be dormant/asleep, so not a problem at all! Ahh, remission! What a great place to be. I am so grateful 😇
My cancer marker number (CA153) is now down to just 7! Numbers over 30 signify cancer, so I'm well within normal range! My first reading was 63 almost 2 years ago, and it's been steadily declining ever since. 😬 Full blood count and liver function tests were also perfect 👌
The doctor said the treatment is 'working very well for me', and that I'm doing great to still be tolerating full strength Ribociclib after 21 cycles. If only he knew that there is actually sooooo much that contributes to my healing, so much more than simply swallowing his tablets! Far beyond what he was taught at uni sadly, so I wouldn't even waste my breath mentioning anything hippy and alternative! 🤐😂
My littlest cub, Vinny came with me to The Christie to be my person of support 😇 He's such good company and we had the most perfectly wholesome day 🩵 We went to the best charity shops around, then picnicked in the sun, in the enchanted setting of Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens. 🌳 🥪
And how good is he at photography?!📸 For a 4 year old! He's putting me to shame! 🤣 Hopefully he's finally found his medium and artistic outlet 🎨 😊

Always be present.
Stop to take in the beauty of nature.
Surrender to the tranquillity that comes with it.
Sit with it.
There is no rush.
This is all that matters.
This moment.
There's nothing in the world as precious
as this present moment.
It is a gift.
Enjoy it.
Surrender to it.
Breathe in peace and strength.
Breathe out stress, worry, guilt, regret.
Teach your son to do the same.
Together, observe the animals.
The non-humans.
Watch how they go about their day,
not worrying about the time, tomorrow,
or what happned last week.
Be at peace.
Allow sadness in.
But do not wallow.
Let all emotions pass through,
like a flowing river.
Be there together.
Not as two human bystanders,
mearly tourists.
Be intertwined with nature.
Two innocent and beautiful souls,
no greater than the souls of the animals and trees.
Breathe.
When you're in that moment,
there is nothing more beautiful.
Stay there.
Breathe. Let go.
Now that you're here,
rooted firmly in this moment,
you'll feel that I am here with you too.
You don't have to see me to know.
The tingles down your spine,
let you know that I'm there.
I am always with you.
Stopping time like this will help you connect.
And feel.
We are three beautiful souls
blended together,
like the colours of a sunset.

3 ingredient truffles!
One tin of full fat coconut milk
1 bar of dark chocolate
1 tbsp of coconut oil. (Mine was infused with medicinal 🌿 oil, so it was an adult only recipe!! Because life is for living 😉 And this sacred plant heals cancer! 💪 ✨️)
Then I made enregyballs to satisfy sweet cravings later on!
Cranberry & coconut and chocolate & goji berries 💗

Tabbouleh. Served with salad, creamy avocado dressing, Harissa bean dip, and Falafels.

For the Tabbouleh-
I used a combination of bulger wheat (which is traditionally used), and pearl couscous, you could also use quinoa.
Cucumber
Tomato
Red onion
Garlic
Juice from 1 lemon
Edamame beans (which I buy frozen)
Fresh parsley
Coriander (mint also works)
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Creamy Avocado dressing-

• 2 ripe Avocado's .
• Plain Vegan Yogurt: I used an oat based yogurt, but any plain vegan yogurt will work.
• Lemon or lime Juice
• Jalapeños (if you like it spicy!)
• Avocado oil (olive is fine too)
• Fresh Herbs: I used a combo of coriander and a pinch of mint.
• 2 cloves of garlic
Wiz it all up until smooth.

Harissa bean dip-

1 can of butterbeans
1 tbsp tahini
Olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
Garlic
Salt and pepper
Harrisa paste to taste
Coriander

Wiz it up in the blender, taste and tweak as needed. It may take a few attempts until you get it just as you like it. You can also add more oil and water and use it more of a dressing.

Falafels-

Canned chickpeas
Garlic
Cashews (a few tablespoons)
Parsely
Cumin
Salt
gram flour

Wiz it up till it's a crumbly mixture that can be rolled into balls and then either fry in olive oil or bake.
