The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata has taken up the project of establishing a medical college named “College of Medicine & J.N.M.Hospital, West Bengal University of Health Sciences” at Kalyani under the ownership and administrative control of the university in the year 2009. Government of West Bengal assured an Essentiality Certificate (No ME/ WBUHS- 06-09/M/1307 dated the 19th
August, 2009) for the establishment of this medical College for annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students. The hospital is functioning with 300 beds at the time of inception of the college. The institution is situated at a distance of 100 meters from “Kalyani Silpanchal”, Railway station and 1.5 Kms from Kalyani Bus Stand . The nearby airport named “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport” at Kolkata is 40 km away from the college. To obtain Letter of Permission (LOP) following inspection by Medical Council of India, for starting MBBS course from 1s August, 2010, application form has been send from the office of the Vice – Chancellor , West Bengal University Health sciences (memo number OG/UHS/956/2009 dated 21.08.2009).
