“I eat well. I exercise. I take anti-inflammatory supplements.
So why are my thyroid nodules still there?”
This is where I think it’s worth stepping back from:
“What else can I take for my thyroid?”
When you’re already doing a lot and the problem is still there, another supplement isn’t necessarily the answer.
From a naturopathic perspective, I want to understand the individual picture.
That can mean looking at:
→ Nutrient deficiencies
→ Diet + food sensitivities
→ Gut health + absorption
→ Hormonal balance
→ Inflammation
→ Relevant infections
→ Environmental exposures
→ Thyroid function + antibodies
And iodine is a good example of why individualisation matters.
Iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production, but more isn’t automatically better — particularly when autoimmune thyroid disease is involved.
So I don’t believe in blindly adding iodine or another “thyroid supplement.”
I want to know what THIS woman actually needs.
And yes, the nodule itself needs appropriate assessment too — including blood tests, ultrasound and, when appropriate, fine-needle aspiration (FNA).
But that’s only one part of the picture.
The bigger question is:
What might be contributing to what’s happening in HER body?
Because two women can have thyroid nodules and have very different health histories and contributing factors.
That’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all thyroid protocol.
Your thyroid symptoms are YOUR body’s story.
