A few of our clients have found that a clip-in style armrest/centre console is the best solution for their needs when driving from a wheelchair so here's what we've come up with 😊
This is attached to the passenger seat base so it doesn't obstruct entry to the drivers area.
When the removable drivers seat is in the rear of the vehicle, the wheelchair user can move right up to the steering wheel, and sit comfortably with support for their left arm while driving.

Do you have a vehicle with a wheelchair hoist or swing out seat?
Have you had it serviced recently?
Did you know that this equipment needs to be serviced regularly to ensure that all of the moving parts are lubricated, working well and any worn parts can be replaced before the equipment fails.
Just like your vehicle itself, it needs regular care and maintenance.
We recommend servicing your gear at least once per year to make sure any wear and tear is caught early and you can keep moving for longer.

We were excited to have Sweet Productions here filming last week, to capture the journey that client Mathias is on, to find and modify a vehicle to suit him.
Working with Occupational Therapist Alison to assess his needs, Jason helped him to look at a couple of different vehicle options, and talked through the mods that might be required to make the vehicle work best for Mathias.
Thanks to Liz from Driving 101 and Peter from Peter Venner Motors as well, it's a team effort!
