Not everyone can wear standard contact lenses. People with astigmatism, keratoconus, irregular corneas, or complex prescriptions often think contacts aren't an option. But specialty lenses exist for a reason.

Toric contact lenses correct astigmatism and are available in all major brands. Rigid gas-permeable lenses provide sharper vision and work for irregular corneas. Scleral lenses sit on the white of your eye, not the cornea, and work for people with very steep or flat corneas. Bifocal and multifocal lenses correct both distance and near vision.

The key is a proper fitting. Specialty lenses require more precision, but the payoff is huge — clear, comfortable vision that glasses might not provide.

Many people with dry eyes think they can't wear contacts 😭 ... Not true! But they do need the right strategy.

Dry eye and contact lens wear can conflict — lenses sit on the tear film, and if that film is compromised, discomfort follows. But there are solutions. Some contact lens materials are more hydrophilic (they love moisture) and are naturally more comfortable for dry eyes. Daily disposables eliminate storage and cleaning, which helps. Rewetting drops designed for contacts can provide relief mid-day. Changing your solution more frequently helps. And sometimes, switching to a different brand makes all the difference.

Not every eye problem requires a trip to the emergency room — and honestly, you might get faster, better care from an optometrist who specializes in eyes 👀.

Some eye issues are true emergencies (sudden vision loss, chemical exposure, significant trauma). Others — like a scratched cornea, eye pain with unclear cause, or a foreign object in your eye — we can handle right away, often the same day. We have the equipment, expertise, and availability. The ER has a six-hour wait and a general practitioner.
