Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives lost to overdose, hold space for those who grieve, and stand with individuals and families impacted by substance use.

Overdose is preventable. Compassion, connection, evidence-based care, and access to life-saving resources matter.

As psychologists, we have a role in challenging stigma and approaching substance use with empathy, dignity, and understanding.

“With great power comes great responsibility.” But what happens when responsibility starts to feel like too much?

One of the most relatable themes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn’t just heroism—it’s the pressure of carrying everything on your own.

Burnout doesn’t only affect first responders, healthcare professionals, or athletes. It can affect students, parents, caregivers, professionals, and anyone who feels responsible for meeting endless expectations while putting their own needs last.

Psychological research reminds us that resilience isn’t built through isolation. Strong social connections, supportive relationships, and knowing when to ask for help are all important protective factors for mental health.

Even fictional heroes remind us of something profoundly human: we’re not meant to carry every burden alone.

As psychologists, we encourage people to recognize the signs of burnout, prioritize rest, nurture supportive relationships, and seek professional support when life’s demands begin to feel overwhelming.

💙 Taking care of your mental health isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s part of caring for your whole self.
