Over the last two weeks of August, I had the opportunity to lead two workshops for women.
One was Rebuild Your Health After 40, presented alongside Ashley Strand. The other was Feeling Strong and Energized in Midlife at the Women’s Resource Center.
I expected women to have questions.
But what stood out to me was how hungry they were to talk.
They wanted answers, but they also wanted to be acknowledged.
They wanted to talk about the exhaustion, brain fog, interrupted sleep, body changes, lost strength, and the strange feeling of no longer recognizing themselves.
Even when we know our girlfriends are experiencing similar things, we can still wonder:
Am I going crazy?
Am I doing something wrong?
Why don’t I feel like myself anymore?
These conversations reminded me why this work matters.
Sometimes the first thing a woman needs is not another diet or exercise plan.
She needs to hear:
What you are experiencing is real.
What if nothing is wrong with you?
What if your body is changing and asking to be understood?
And what if you do not have to figure it all out by yourself?
I would love to hear from you. What change in midlife surprised you the most?
