My passion for the mind-body connection started at an early age when I was introduced to many different complementary therapies by my Mother, who was embarking on a sadly short-lived battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). I would watch her meditation, aromatherapy, massage and reiki sessions with great love and passion for these wonderful therapies that helped ease her pain, worry and fear. This
passion later turned to a Bachelor of Science degree in Complementary Therapies and subsequently a Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant role in our local hospital. My career then moved to clinical research within oncology, heamatology, stroke and mental health, I had a passion for helping people and found great reward and comfort in seeing even the smallest progression physically, emotionally and/or mentally in both my patients and their loved ones, but working in a clinical setting where often complementary therapies were looked down upon was creating an ever nagging hole within me, I wanted and needed more. It took moving to Melbourne in 2014 to help me realise this and to embark on a different path, a new journey into the world of yoga and Pilates. I'd practiced yoga and Pilates on and off for many years in London, however it become a real burning desire within me upon my move to Melbourne. I found by practicing regularly my mind was calmer, my body stronger and it helped me cope with the move to the other side of the world, away from my friends and family. In 2015 I decided to complete my mat Pilates training and become an instructor, I honestly had no idea how much this would change my life and the path I was about to encounter. I now spend my days teaching and my heart sings before, during and after each and every class, my students often comment on the passion and motivation I bring to my classes. They often thank me, however, it is me that also thanks them, because without my wonderful students my heart would not be singing everyday! To watch men and women not only become stronger physically and emotionally but to also become more confident, brave and happier is truly beautiful and so so so rewarding.
