Successful Lactation Management Training Held at Buda Community Health Care Center

Buda, Davao City — March 26, 2026

The Buda Community Health Care Center (BCHCC) successfully conducted a comprehensive Lactation Management Training from March 24 to 26, 2026, aimed at strengthening the capacity of healthcare providers and promoting optimal breastfeeding practices in the community.

The three-day training brought together medical personnel, including nurses, midwives, and other healthcare workers, who underwent intensive lectures, skills demonstrations, and practical sessions on proper lactation management. In addition, non-medical personnel participated in half-day orientation sessions designed to increase awareness and support for breastfeeding within the healthcare environment.

The activity was facilitated by expert resource speakers from the Department of Health and the City Health Office of Davao City, who shared updated guidelines and global standards, evidence-based practices, and strategies for addressing common breastfeeding challenges.

The primary purpose of the training was to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of healthcare providers in supporting mothers to initiate and sustain breastfeeding. It also aimed to promote exclusive breastfeeding, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and ensure that BCHCC staff can deliver consistent, high-quality counseling and support to breastfeeding mothers.

Furthermore, the inclusion of non-medical staff in the orientation sessions highlighted the importance of creating a supportive, breastfeeding-friendly environment within the healthcare facility, recognizing that successful lactation support requires a whole-of-organization approach.

Participants expressed appreciation for the practical and interactive nature of the training, noting that the knowledge gained will significantly improve the quality of care provided to mothers and infants in the community.

With this initiative, BCHCC reaffirms its commitment to advancing maternal and child health and aligning with national health priorities on breastfeeding promotion and support
