Transitioning into Fall & colder weather doesn’t mean you need to eat less🍂

As schedules change & the temperatures drop, you may notice your appetite, cravings, or food preferences changing & that’s completely normal!

Cold weather can make us gravitate toward warm, comforting foods like soups, stews, pasta, oatmeal, casseroles, & cozy baked goods. & you don’t need to “earn” these foods or compensate for eating them

So grab the soup, make the chili, enjoy the baked goods, & let yourself eat🥣🍪

Life doesn’t always stay in the same rhythm 🤎

New seasons, new jobs, vacations, kids going back to school, busy weeks, changes in routine… transitions can make it feel like our eating habits need to be “perfect” in order to stay on track or cause them to completely be thrown away

But as a dietitian, I want you to remember: your nutrition can change with your life

You don’t need to eat the same way every day or follow the same schedule every season 🍂✏️Sometimes balanced meals look like sitting down & cooking 🥘 Other times, they look like grabbing something quick between appointments

The goal isn’t perfection or rigid routines—it’s learning how to adapt while still caring for yourself🌿Transitions are allowed to be messy, your eating doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to still

Your routine can change without your relationship with food having to suffer

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that healthy eating has to be “all or nothing.” In reality, your body doesn’t need perfection ✨ It benefits from consistency over time

✨ One balanced meal won’t transform your health
✨ One indulgent meal won’t ruin your progress
✨ What you do most often matters far more than what you do occasionally

Small habits practiced consistently—eating enough throughout the day, including fruits & vegetables, staying hydrated, moving your body in ways you enjoy, & giving yourself grace—are what create lasting change 💯

Progress isn’t built through perfection. It’s built through consistency 👏🏼👏🏼

🥑Focus on habits you can maintain, not rules you can only follow for a short time 🫶🏼

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my clients feel empowered with the knowledge & confidence to nourish themselves through every stage of life 🤰🏼🤱🏽💚

Nutrition isn’t about perfection—it’s about making small, realistic changes that fit your lifestyle & create lasting results ✨ Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, managing blood sugar, postpartum recovery, or breastfeeding, you don’t have to do it alone 🫶🏼

If you’re ready to build a healthier relationship with food while working toward your nutrition goals, I’d love to help ✨ Currently accepting new clients ☺️

Does eating late at night cause weight gain? 🌙🍽️

Your body doesn’t suddenly start storing everything as fat once the clock strikes 8 p.m. 🕰️ for many people, having an evening snack can be incredibly beneficial 💯

A balanced snack before bed may help:
✨ Prevent waking up overly hungry
✨ Support blood sugar stability
✨ Fuel your body after an evening workout
✨ Reduce the urge to overeat the next day

If late-night eating is happening because you’re overly restrictive during the day, emotionally eating, or mindlessly snacking out of habit, it’s worth exploring why it’s happening rather than blaming the time itself ☺️

Lately a lot of people have been asking what’s the difference between a dietitian & a nutritionist? 🤔 These terms are often used interchangeably, but they aren’t the same!

🥗 Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN):
✔️ Completed an accredited undergraduate and graduate education program
✔️ Completed 1,200+ hours of supervised practice
✔️ Passed a national registration exam
✔️ Completes ongoing continuing education to maintain their credential
✔️ Is qualified to provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy for a wide range of health conditions

🌱 Nutritionist:
The title “nutritionist” can mean different things depending on where you live. In many states, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist regardless of their education or training 👎🏼 while some states have licensing requirements for certain nutrition professionals

So, if you’re looking for nutrition advice—especially for managing a medical condition, improving your relationship with food, or receiving personalized, evidence-based guidance—working with a Registered Dietitian 🥑 can help ensure you’re receiving care backed by science & extensive professional training🫶🏼

What I wish everyone knew about nutrition as a registered dietitian

☀️Nutrition isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being consistent
☀️One meal won’t make or break your health, just like one workout won’t make you fit 🏋🏼‍♀️Your habits over time matter far more than individual choices
☀️Healthy eating should add to your life, not take away from it 🍓Food is nourishment, enjoyment, culture, connection, & celebration
☀️You don’t have to cut out carbs, avoid sugar, or “earn” your food to be healthy 🍞Restriction often creates more stress around eating than it solves
☀️Your body deserves to be fueled 🔋Eating enough is just as important as eating nutritious foods
☀️Health isn’t defined by a number on the scale ⚖️ Sleep, movement, stress management, relationships, genetics, & access to food all play important roles

We often hear about eating less, but not enough about what happens when your body isn’t getting the fuel it needs 💯

Some common signs of under eating can include:
🤎 Feeling tired or low on energy throughout the day
🤎 Constantly thinking about food
🤎 Feeling irritable or having trouble concentrating
🤎 Getting dizzy, shaky, or lightheaded
🤎 Feeling cold all the time
🤎 Poor workout performance or slow recovery
🤎 Waking up hungry in the middle of the night
🤎 Increased cravings or feeling out of control around food later in the day

Eating enough isn’t “giving up” on your health 🩺 it’s one of the most important ways to support your metabolism, hormones, brain, muscles & overall well-being ☺️

Food is fuel, and your body deserves enough of it 🤎

Nutrition advice that needs to retire 👋🏼 & be left in the past

❌ “Don’t eat after 7 PM.”
Your body doesn’t magically store more fat after a certain time. What matters most is your overall eating pattern and whether you’re honoring your hunger
❌ “Fruit has too much sugar.”
Fruit contains natural sugars packaged with fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, & water. For most people, fruit is something to enjoy—not fear
❌ “Carbs are bad.”
Carbohydrates are your body’s preferred source of energy, especially for your brain. They don’t need to be eliminated to support your health
❌ “You have to earn your food.”
Food isn’t a reward or a punishment. You deserve to eat because your body needs nourishment—not because you’ve exercised enough
❌ “Healthy eating has to be perfect.”
Nutrition isn’t all-or-nothing. Consistency, flexibility, & enjoying your food will always beat chasing perfection.

There’s a lot of nutrition noise 🤯online, but nutrition doesn’t have to be confusing. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is let go of outdated food rules and build habits that are realistic, enjoyable, & sustainable ✨

Nutrition counseling is about building a sustainable foundation through small, meaningful steps that support your relationship with food, your body, & your overall well-being.

I’m so proud of Nerine for embracing the process & recognizing that lasting change often comes from consistent, incremental habits—not quick fixes

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by nutrition advice, know that you don’t have to do it all at once. Small changes add up, & support can make all the difference. 💚

Thank you, Nerine, for trusting me to be part of your journey! 🫶🏼
