The soldier looks up
Into the night sky
And cannot believe
What catches his eyes

Instead of a flash of light from above
And a loud booming blast of sound
He sees angels erupt into astounding praise
And watches the enemy flee.

This Fourth of July
Is a day to remember
The warriors of the world.
Though let’s not forget
The One Who has set
Us free from the chains of sin.

My fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,

How might the world look now if we were examples of our God's way of life? When we are struck we are not to strike back. We are to love our enemies. Finally we are to seek the best for those who take advantage of us. How are we doing by these standards of God found in the Bible?

A recent BBC program included the argument that God gave us brains to figure things out so that makes it okay to use scientific interventions like genetic screening to choose which embryo to use to impregnate a woman with a child holding the highest probability of living a healthy life by avoiding embryos with undesirable genetic predispositions. Well, God also gave us the ability to sin, but that does not mean He approves of or endorses it in any way. Your weak attempt at self-justification is less than rational. It simply shows your true desire to serve your own self interests rather than submitting to God's will.

A force of evil presses on

Roaring loud with head held high

It is no secret that it sees itself

As best to rule the world in pride.



It’s blind to truth

It fights its own

It doesn’t know

It has no throne.



It rules nothing at all

It holds the place

That Christ will take

When He stands tall.



His true power and strength

Will take center stage

He’ll rule an unending length

Though the evil will rage.



All evil will fall

It will be seen no more

The light of full day

Will shine bright forevermore.
