Australia Zoo 🐨🦘
This is one of my favourite places to visit when I’m on the Sunshine Coast as it is an incredible attraction that is wheelchair accessible.
Disability Parking was available at the Zoo close to the entrance. The accessible toilets were well maintained and had plenty of room to move around. Pathways throughout the zoo are wide, flat, and well-maintained, making it easy to navigate with a wheelchair or mobility aid.
The zoo runs daily wildlife shows, specifically in the Crocoseum🐊, and there is accessible seating so everyone can enjoy the experience comfortably. There is a ramp heading up to the seating where you can enjoy the whole show. The seating area was undercover and out of the weather. Some enclosure viewing areas have walls or barriers that are a bit too high or wide, making it harder to get close enough to see the animals. However, with the adjustment of my electric chair height, I was able to see into the enclosures.
It can be visited for a full day, and there are plenty of shaded rest areas, cafes, and spots to take breaks. We did visit the gift shop, which you can access but is difficult to manoeuvre in a wheelchair.
You can explore at your own pace, and there are mobility aids available for hire if needed. There is an electric shuttle for Transport through the zoo, hosted by guides. It has a ramp that you can access to enjoy the shuttle tour as well, although it has a weight limit of 350kgs including the wheelchair and person.
I give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
