🩷This Saturday we will be starting our Informed Her Initiative! Funded by the Hoptown Helps Grant.
The Informed Her Initiative is to empower girls through reproductive health education and body literacy awareness. This project seeks to address the lack of accessible, culturally responsive information surrounding reproductive health, menstrual health, fertility awareness, and body autonomy, which often contributes to misinformation, stigma, and poor health outcomes within underserved communities.
The Informed Her Initiative will serve adolescent girls in LAD and some of their peers.
The project plans to provide our girls through workshops, educational sessions, and community outreach activities focused on reproductive health and body literacy. Mentees will benefit by gaining increased knowledge of reproductive wellness, menstrual health, fertility awareness, body autonomy, and overall health advocacy, empowering them to make informed decisions and improve long-term health outcomes.
The Informed Her Initiative will implement the project through interactive educational workshops, community-based outreach, and culturally responsive reproductive health programming.
Strategies will include partnering with local schools, community organizations, and healthcare professionals to provide accurate body literacy and reproductive health education.
The project will also utilize discussion-based learning, educational materials, resource referrals, and participant engagement activities to increase awareness, build confidence, and encourage informed health decision-making among our mentees and their peers.
If you are a women’s health provider, would like to implement an activity or would like to come tell your personal story about reproductive health/body literacy please email us.
Thank you
