First Aid ⛑️

MJK Training offer a range of courses including;
Face to face courses and online blended learning courses.

First Aid at work - this first aid qualification is for anyone seeking a comprehensive, in depth first aid qualification. This qualification is idea for all businesses for whom the HSE guidelines recommend a trained first aider in qualified in First Aid at work. On completion the qualification will last 3 years and following this time a revalidation is required.

Duration 18 hours
Maximum number of delegates: 12
Price: £175 pp

First Aid at Work Re-qualification Course:
A 2 day course that revalidates the HSE certified First Aid at Work qualification for a further 3 years. This 2 day refresher course covers the same topics as the full 3 day course. In order to attend this refresher course it is necessary to be in possession of an in-date First Aid at Work certificate (no more than 3 years and 1 month from the date of certification).

Duration: 12 hours
Maximum number of delegates: 12
Cost: £120 Per person

Automated External Defibrillation Course - AED’s deliver the potentially lifesaving shock that can restart the heart after a heart attack. They are becoming increasingly common in public places and many businesses now have one on site. The use of these automated devices is therefore arguably an essential skill for the first aider.
This course will take you through the whole process of how, why and when to use an AED using a training device.
This course can be delivered on its own or alongside other first aid courses.

Duration: 3 hours
Maximum number of delegates: 12
Cost: £40 pp

Paediatric First Aid - This paediatric first aid course focuses on the situations and conditions most likely to be of relevance to those working with young children. In particular teachers, nursery staff, child-minders and play group leaders. It also meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework.
This course has plenty of hand-on practice and is aimed at giving you the confidence to recognise and manage a wide range of emergencies until the ambulance or other medical help arrives. It also helps you with dealing with the more day to day situations that you may be faced with.
No previous training or qualifications are necessary.

Duration: 12 hours
Maximum number of delegates: 12
Cost: £95

Emergency First Aid at Work is a HSE certified qualification for appointed first aiders in low risk workplaces and is also very useful for anyone wishing to acquire a good grounding of first aid knowledge. No previous training or qualifications are necessary. The course offers a comprehensive coverage of all the main first aid scenarios you might be likely to meet.
Delegates will receive a coloured first aid manual and upon completion of the course, a certificate valid for 3 years.

Duration: 6 hours
Maximum number of delegates: 12
Cost: £75 pp

We've successfully completed First Aid courses for the parish council and local schools, ensuring our community is well-prepared. Plus, we completed Lifeguard assessments at Babington House. The CPR Lesson That Saved a Life.

I’ve been teaching first aid and CPR for years. I’ve always believed in its importance, but the truth is, most of the time, I never find out whether the lessons I give are ever used - or if they make a difference at all.

That changed one day last year, in a way I never saw coming.

About four years ago, I was at a school teaching staff first aid and CPR. It was a routine course, we went through everything - how to recognise cardiac arrest, how to preform CPR correctly, the importance of early defibrillation, and what to expect while waiting for emergency services. Like all my sessions, I tried to balance technical accuracy with the gravity of what CPR can mean in a real-life emergency.

At the end of the course, I packed up my things, said my goodbyes and went on my way.

Four years later, I attended a different venue to deliver the same course to a different group of people. At the end of the course a woman came up to me and said she had completed my training before - at the school venue.

She went on to tell me that her husband had suffered a sudden carrdiac arrest at home. She had found him unresponsive, not breathing. In that terrifying moment, she remembered what she had learned. She called the emergency services, started chest compressions, and didn’t stop until help arrived.

They told her afterward: her immediate action saved his life. Hearing her say that, I felt an overwhelming mix of emotions - pride, humility, and a deep sobering sense of what CPR truly means. It’s not just something we teach. It’s something that changes lives.

Months later, I attended a charity ball in support of Sporting Family Change. It was a formal evening - dinner, speeches, quiet conversations- when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see the woman from the First Aid course and stood beside her was her husband - alive, smiling and very much present.

He shook my hand and said, simply, “Thank You.”

It’s hard to put into words what that moment felt like. As someone who works behind the scenes , teaching skills you hope are never needed, to meet someone whose life you saved because of them…. It was one of the most powerful moments of my career!!

If you’ve ever thought about taking a first aid or CPR course, don’t wait. You never know when someone you love might need it - or when you might be the one to make a difference.

And to the woman who took that course, stayed calm under pressure and saved her husbands life: you’re the real hero. I was just lucky enough to be part of your story. ❤️
