You can book today!! Parents have been telling us that it is almost impossible to get Psych support for their children here in Mackay without long wait times and high prices. You spoke… we listened!! We’re excited to be offering this clinically supervised treatment program, which has been developed by St Vincent’s Hospital.

Chronic pain and anxiety are invisible disabilities. Did you know current reports suggest that one in five children or young adults experience chronic pain and/or anxiety. That means you probably know someone. Parents often struggle to understand these conditions, or are embarrassed to talk about them; so may also struggle to reach out for help from friends.

Please share this post, to help raise awareness, and reduce the sense of isolation.

With an average 2yr waiting list for help through the public system, we can help get your child back to school and back to life sooner (you could literally book an appointment this week). Book online now: https://paedsinpain.com.au

Did you know that this week is national carers week?

As we hit the midway mark, our team wanted to give a shout-out to all those who support children in pain. These often unsung heroes include parents, siblings and friends, along with the extended professional support network who are involved in caring for a child or young adult with chronic or persistent pain.

🧠 Every pain experience is unique 🧠

When it comes to persistent pain in children, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. The biopsychosocial model looks at the big picture—how mental, emotional, and social factors influence the pain experience.

🌱 Kids with chronic pain often experience Sympathetic Dominance, where their bodies remain in a constant state of stress, worsening their symptoms. Our care approach targets not only the physical pain but the nervous system, helping to calm the body and create an environment where healing can occur.

🔑 Helping kids move beyond their pain is possible with the right support. Contact us today for more information!

🌟 Persistent Pain in Kids: It’s Not Just Physical! 🌟

Did you know that persistent pain in children often involves more than just the body? 🤔 The biopsychosocial model helps us look at pain through a broader lens—considering the mind, emotions, and social factors.

For many kids with ongoing pain, the nervous system (especially the Sympathetic Nervous System) can become overactive—a condition known as Sympathetic Dominance.

This keeps their bodies in a state of stress, amplifying pain signals.

✅ Early, comprehensive intervention is key to breaking the pain cycle and improving quality of life.

Let’s work together to manage pain holistically, allowing kids to return to their normal lives faster. 💪

Exciting times ahead!! We spent the first part of this week down at the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) in Brisbane; with their team of pain specialists. There is always more to learn. The most exciting outcome of this particular trip though, was a discussion regarding ongoing collaboration between our service and QCH.
