TIBETAN COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK
Towards an enlightened & healthy society
Background
Due to the rapid social and economic changes, Tibetans have been increasingly forced to give up their farms and herds and have thus been thrown suddenly into much more sedentary modes of existence. These changes have not been supplemented by information about healthy living in such sedentary lifestyles. As a re
sult, Tibetans have been facing a major new wave of health problems, besides many others, to which very little national or international attention has been paid. Due to the lack of modern health science information in the Tibetan language, communicable and non-communicable diseases are beginning to take a serious toll, and are posing a very serious threat to the Tibetan population at large. What We Do
The Tibetan Community Health Network (TCHN), is thus, founded as a portal to distribute health and science education information, and designed to work within the extant Tibetan culture in Tibetan populated provinces like Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunan and the Tibet Autonomous Region. This work is achieved through the use of our website, mobile apps, videos, social media and printed materials. We build relations with college students, language groups and monasteries and educate them in the materials we have prepared. Afterward, they will be instructed on delivering the information in their respective communities and implementing it according to their capacity. TCHN is the only organization focusing on community health and making modern health sciences available in Tibetan Language for a long lasting solution.
