Peace Arch Hospice Society Providing compassionate, professional, no-cost grief and end-of-life support for individuals and families through every stage of dying, death, and bereavement.

We are a registered charitable organization and our work is made possible through donations. Peace Arch Hospice Society supports those living with grief and life-limiting illness by providing care, compassion, information, and resources. We offer emotional, practical, and spiritual support to White Rock and South Surrey residents and their families, inclusive of all cultures, faiths, and beliefs.

As a community-based, registered charity, we complement local hospitals and care facilities. Our Registered Clinical Counsellors and trained Volunteers provide professional services such as companionship, counselling, support groups, relaxation therapy, children's grief counselling, and more. We rely on fundraising through grants, events, donations, and our Thrift Store. Please contact us to learn how you can help by volunteering or donating.

Community connections make a difference! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿค

On June 5, PAHS was pleased to attend the Aspira Retirement Living Senior's Health & Wellness Expo at Peninsula Retirement Residences.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteer Sherrie and our PAHS Fund Development Officer, Emiko for representing us at our awareness table and connecting with seniors, families, caregivers, and community partners throughout the day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Events like these remind us that supporting health and wellness extends far beyond our walls. By sharing information, building relationships, and having meaningful conversations, we help ensure that more people in our community know where to turn for support when they need it most. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Thank you to Aspira Retirement Living and the Peninsula Retirement Residences team for hosting such a welcoming and informative event and for bringing the community together around health, wellness, and connection. ๐Ÿก

Together, we're creating stronger, more connected communities, one conversation at a time. ๐Ÿ™

We're proud to celebrate one of our dedicated volunteers, Dr. Gordon Wallace, whose latest article has been published on Mindful. ๐Ÿ“–

Gordon is a retired clinical psychologist, longtime mindfulness teacher, and the creator and facilitator of our mindfulness program for bereavement and palliative care clients. Through his compassionate guidance, he has helped many in our community navigate grief with greater presence, courage, and kindness. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

In "Walking Grief Home: Six Companions for Living With Loss," Gordon shares a thoughtful and deeply compassionate perspective on living with grief, offering six mindful companions that can help us meet loss with greater understanding and care. โœจ

We are grateful for Gordon's generosity in sharing his time, expertise, and heart with our hospice community, and we're delighted to see his wisdom shared with a wider audience through Mindful. ๐Ÿ™

Today, we would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to our former Executive Director, Amanda McNally as she begins a new chapter in her life. ๐Ÿซถ

Over the past six years, her leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication have helped shape Peace Arch Hospice Society in countless meaningful ways. She has been a champion for our mission, a source of support for our staff and volunteers, and a strong advocate for the individuals and families we are honoured to serve.

While she will be greatly missed, we are deeply grateful for the lasting impact she has made on our Society and our community. Her contributions will continue to be felt for years to come.

We wish her every success and happiness in the future. Once a part of the Peace Arch Hospice Society family, always a part of our family. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

A few snapshots from our recent Grief N' Giggles event! ๐Ÿ“ธ

From shared stories to shared laughter, it was a beautiful reminder that connection and joy can be found even while navigating grief. ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŽค

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this special gathering so memorable. These photos capture just a few of the smiles and moments of joy shared throughout the event.

A huge round of applause to our talented comedians, who had us laughing all evening while helping create a space where grief, healing, and humour could coexist. ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, whose partnership and generosity helped bring this event to life. From helping envision the event to graciously hosting both the pre-party and comedy show, their support created a welcoming space for our community to come together. Their hospitality, refreshments, and commitment to making the evening a success were truly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, donated, and supported Grief N' Giggles. We can't wait to do it again! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Our recent Dying to Learn More event focused on exploring funeral traditions, end-of-life practices, and beliefs from different cultures and faiths. It was a fascinating and informative afternoon that encouraged learning, understanding, and meaningful conversations about how communities honour and remember loved ones. โšฑ๏ธโšฐ๏ธ

Attendees heard from Sister Pala of the International Buddhist Temple of Canada ๐Ÿชท, who shared Buddhist perspectives and traditions, Raj Dhanda, who spoke about Sikh beliefs and funeral practices, and Howard Jampolsky, who provided insights into Jewish customs and traditions surrounding death and bereavement โœก๏ธ. Dan Baxter of the BC Funeral Association rounded out the presentations with valuable information on funeral options, industry trends, and the importance of pre-planning.

Guests also enjoyed a complimentary lunch provided by Peace Arch Hospice Society and catered by Sheila's Catering ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ, followed by a lively Q&A session, closing remarks, and prize draws.

Thank you to our speakers, exhibitors, attendees, volunteers, and staff for making this educational event such a success. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
