Pelvic pain isn’t just pain.

It can change how someone feels in their own body…
how safe they feel in intimacy…
how they move through daily routines most people never think twice about.

Because the pelvis holds more than muscles and organs.
It holds identity. Privacy. Vulnerability. Trust.

So when someone says they’re hurting here—
they’re not just describing a symptom.

They’re describing something that’s touching every part of their life.

And no… that meaning isn’t “in their head.”

It’s in the way they’ve had to adapt, cope, withdraw, push through, and survive—often silently.

This is why pelvic health care has to be different.
Because we’re not just treating pain.
We’re holding space for the life around it.

✨ The Story Beneath the Symptom ✨

What if the body isn’t malfunctioning… but communicating?

So often, pelvic symptoms like pain, urgency, or tension are not the problem — they’re pointing to something deeper. When we shift from “How do I fix this?” to “What’s this protecting?” everything changes.

Trauma-informed pelvic health starts with curiosity, compassion, and honoring the client as the expert of their own body.

Let’s listen before we treat. 💛

🦴 Pelvic Health Is Never Just the Pelvis

When clients tell us:
➡️ “My hips feel unstable.”
➡️ “My knees hurt when I walk.”
➡️ “I used to tolerate workouts, but now everything flares.”

They may not just be describing pelvic symptoms—they may be experiencing a whole-body loading problem.

As pelvic health practitioners, we need to understand how bone health, joint health, muscle strength, hormone changes, and inflammation all influence our clients' ability to move, recover, and participate in daily life.

One of the biggest misconceptions? That movement and impact are inherently harmful.

The truth is:
✔️ Bones respond to load.
✔️ Joints thrive on motion.
✔️ Muscles protect both.

Whether you're working with postpartum clients, individuals navigating perimenopause, or those returning to exercise after pelvic dysfunction, graded loading and strength training can be powerful tools for building resilience and confidence.

Remember: A perfect exercise plan that someone can't maintain is far less effective than a sustainable plan they can follow consistently.

The Level 1 Functional Pelvic Health Practitioner™ Program is a guided path taking OTs from newbie to confident pelvic health practitioner in just 4 1/2 months 🌟

And our next cohort opens July 20, 2026 for alumni and August 3 for new students 💫

Why did I create Level 1?
I was tired of OTs having to stitch together and piecemeal their journey through a bunch of unconnected courses. It’s confusing, it’s expensive, and it delays your mastery. So, I’ve created my Level 1 Functional Pelvic Health Practitioner™ Program to solve this need and to give OTs the skills and confidence they need to start seeing clients.

If you missed it, here’s what’s inside the Level 1 program:

-OT Pioneers and OT Elevate (2 courses!)
-4.5 months group mentorship with me doing case studies and client role playing
-A 3 day hands in-person lab (or 2 day virtual) covering all the techniques you need to know
-Content is dripped weekly so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
-Weekly quizzes to keep you accountable and knowing where to put your effort
-A skills based assessment to graduate with the Level 1 Functional Pelvic Health Practitioner™ designation

You get 51 contact hours approved by the AOTA (that’s 5.1 AOTA CEUs!)

We hope to support you on July 20 for alumni and August 3 for new students!!!!

Ask me anything!

Sleep isn't just a background variable in pelvic health.

It's often the difference between a nervous system that can learn, adapt, and heal—and one that's simply trying to survive the day.

Because sometimes the most powerful intervention isn't another exercise—it's understanding what's happening between bedtime and morning.

⭐ We’re not just treating symptoms.
We’re supporting people—real lives, real stories, real experiences.

Pelvic health is about more than muscles. It’s about how someone moves through their day, their relationships, and their sense of trust in their own body.

This is the kind of care that changes everything. 💛

We were standing in the chatoic Tokyo subway station...humid, hungry, a little turned around and I could feel that familiar spiral starting in me: Okay, I need to fix this. Fast. Don’t let it fall apart.

The plan had fallen apart. We were headed in the wrong direction. And then something surprised me.

My 14 and 12 year old recovered in real time.

A looked at the subway map and started comparing routes. L asked a stranger for help… clear, calm, and confident (proud mamma moment!). I stood there thinking: this is why we travel.

Not for the pictures. Not the perfect itinerary. But the testing of our nervous system. The recovery. The resilience. The real life executive functioning that shows up when it actually matters (bc the conversations over dinner debriefing how we dealt with it are in many ways more important than what they learn in books).

We are traveling for 7 weeks through Asia. Not as a break from real life, but as a way to be fully
inside it. On purpose. For our marriage. For learning our kids in a deeper way.

For the kinds of conversations that don’t happen in the in between minutes at home.

As an OT in pelvic health, I’m coming back to the same principles: build capacity, stay curious, and keep moving forward even when things don’t go to plan. I believe in doing hard things + failure is feedback. It’s info that helps you adjust, refine, and move forward smarter.

Long travel has a way of making that belief tangible. Because travel doesn’t just create memories. It reveals patterns. It
shows you how you respond under stress, what you lean on, and what becomes possible when you loosen your grip on perfect. It gives your nervous system new reps. It gives your relationships more room to breathe.
We’re heading into this season ready for the stretch and the reward: the beauty, the missed turns, the laughter, the hard lessons that turn into stories, and the closeness that comes from doing life side by side for weeks.

We’re going to learn a lot. About the world, about each other, and about the version of ourselves that shows up when we choose growth on purpose.
