Is the body temporary?
One of our members, sitting in quiet contemplation at the ashram in Tiruvannamalai, asked Bhagwan, "Why is everything around me so temporary? My body, for one."
The Silent Swami's response was as direct as it was surprising. "Who said the body is temporary?" he replied. "When life leaves it, the body is still there. Whether cremated into ash or buried and returned to the earth, it simply transforms. It is always present in some form, never truly vanishing from this world."
Our member was dumb-stuck. Gathering courage asked the next question "So, if the body doesn't vanish, what is it that goes away when we die?"
Bhagwan smiled at the follow-up question.
