The more tattoos you have, the more likely it's causing damage to your immune system.
When you get a tattoo, immune cells called engulf ink particles to protect the body, but they cannot break them down. These cells stay trapped in your skin and nearby lymph nodes, keeping your immune system constantly engaged.
LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
Within hours of your session, a portion of the ink travels through your lymphatic system and accumulates in your lymph nodes, which can cause them to swell and remain persistently inflamed.
STRAIN ON THE BODY
Because tattoo ink consists of complex and sometimes toxic compounds (like metals), it is a very difficult burden for the body. Chronic inflammation of the lymph nodes is a known stressor on the immune system.
AUTOIMMUNE FLARE UPS
For individuals with pre-existing conditions like psoriasis or autoimmune disorders, the trauma and foreign materials of a tattoo can act as an adjuvant, potentially overstimulating the immune system and triggering tissue attacks or severe allergic reactions
LONG TERM RISKS
There are emerging concerns about cumulative chemical exposure from large or multiple tattoos. Large-scale observational studies in Sweden and Denmark found that tattooed individuals had a slightly elevated statistical risk for certain types of cancer—including lymphoma and melanoma.
