Birth Restored offers Christian-based childbirth education for parents. As well as doula and childbirth educator certification programs.

Akasha Hines is a doula and childbirth educator. She is passionate about educating and empowering women to have their best birth. Her childbirth course, RENEGADE BIRTH, stands on God's truth and the most current evidence based practice to eliminate fear in birth and create a more comfortable and satisfying birth experience. She also brings along her unique Christian perspective to birth as she supports her doula clients.

Every child is a blessing and planned by the Lord. Not every blessing is easy.

The Promised Land was a blessing for the Israelites, but it came with obedience and work on their part.

The blessing of childbirth often comes with work, with preparation, with seeking His guidance.

That's what preparing for birth is: stewarding what the Lord has placed in your hands to fully receive the blessing He has prepared for you. Wherever you are in that process today, you're not behind.

And also, there is so much grace on your journey. It's not perfection or legalism; it's doing our best to steward what we've been given.

Faith isn't measured by what happens to you. It's measured by what you do.

You can't control every twist of pregnancy and birth. You can control where you place your trust.

Where does your mind go first when a worry hits. Does is go to God, or Google? Do you lean on the Lord for direction or lean towards self-reliance?

We spend a whole lesson on this and other Biblical Truths in class, because how you answer that question shapes your entire birth.

God doesn't make mistakes. However this pregnancy came to be…maybe it was planned, a surprise, a long road battling infertility or a rainbow baby. I don’t know. But what I do know is God has been forming your baby with more care and love than you could ever fathom.

Of all the ways He could have designed reproduction, He chose this. Pregnancy and birth aren't an inconvenience to get through. They're a journey He designed on purpose.

I think a lot of Christian women go into birth expecting one of two things.

Either they expect it to be pain-free because they've heard "if you just trust God, it won't hurt."

Or they expect it to be unbearable because they've believed the Curse of Eve lie their whole life.

Here's the truth that sits right in the middle of both of those.

God never promised us a pain-free birth.

But what He did promise is so much greater than the absence of pain.

He promised His presence — He will never leave you, not even for one contraction.

He promised His peace — not the peace this world gives, but a peace that doesn't make sense apart from Him.

He promised His strength — when yours runs out, His does not.

He promised His comfort — He will hold you with His own hand through every wave.

He promised His grace — sufficient for you in your weakest, most vulnerable moment.

That is not a small consolation. That is everything.

Pain may be part of your story. But it will never be the whole story. Because in every contraction, in every moment that feels like too much, He is there... presence, peace, strength, comfort, and grace, all wrapped around you.

You are not walking into that birth room alone. You never were. 🙏
