🌿 SEASONAL ALLERGIES ARE HERE… 🌿
Spring and changing seasons can be beautiful—but for those who struggle with seasonal allergies, they can also bring sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, a runny or blocked nose, and that familiar feeling of congestion.
Nature has some beautiful allies that may help support the body during allergy season. 🌱
✨ HERBS TO CONSIDER
🌿 Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Traditionally used to support the body during seasonal allergy symptoms and may help with the body's histamine response.
🌼 Elderflower
Traditionally used for upper respiratory and sinus support, especially when congestion and irritation are present.
🌿 Eyebright
Traditionally associated with eye and upper respiratory support and may be particularly useful when seasonal allergies affect the eyes.
🌿 Butterbur
Has been studied for seasonal allergic rhinitis, although only properly processed, PA-free preparations should be considered because raw butterbur can contain harmful compounds.
🌿 Peppermint
Its aromatic oils can feel soothing when you're congested and may help support comfortable breathing.
🌱 AND DON'T FORGET YOUR FOOD!
During a flare-up, some people find that reducing foods that can aggravate symptoms helps them feel better.
You may want to temporarily limit:
❌ Alcohol
❌ Highly processed foods
❌ Excessive refined sugar
❌ Very spicy foods if they worsen your symptoms
❌ Fermented or aged foods if you notice they trigger you
❌ Processed meats and other foods high in histamine, if you are sensitive to histamine
Instead, focus on plenty of fresh whole foods, colourful vegetables, fruits you tolerate well, healthy fats, adequate protein and plenty of water💧
🌿 A little reminder from The House of Freya -
Your body isn't necessarily reacting to just ONE thing. Allergies can be influenced by your environment, immune system, gut health, stress, sleep and individual food sensitivities.
Listen to your body, keep track of your triggers, and support your body gently. 🤍
Nature provides many wonderful allies—we just need to learn how to work with them.🌿✨
