Dear Colleagues, Family and friends of Southern Free State Mental Health

It is with great sadness that I share the news that our Director’s mother has suffered a serious stroke yesterday afternoon and is currently in a coma in hospital.

During this incredibly difficult and uncertain time, we would like to extend our deepest thoughts, love and support to Mrs. Laten and the entire family. We can only imagine the pain and worry they are experiencing at this moment.

Let us keep the family close in our thoughts and prayers, asking for God’s healing hand, strength, comfort and peace to surround them. We pray for a miracle and for a speedy and full recovery for her mother.

May the medical team be guided with wisdom and compassion, and may the family find strength and hope with each passing day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this very difficult time. 🙇‍♀️

20 August 2026 it was Southern Free State Mental Health's Annual General Meeting. Another year of support, educating, prevention, awareness and inspiration. We thank our Sponsors, Donato, Partners and Communities for their involvement, support and co-operation in helping to improve mental health amongst everyone in need.

Today we are celebrating an Angel's life. Pieter, you gave everything you had to our dear clients. You were the one who was not only their Guardian but for many you became their friend, family, confidant and comfort.

Thank you for years of dedication towards senior citizens and disabled people. To us who work side by side with you, you were an inspiration.

Even though you weren't healthy, you ALWAYS fought for your people, you gave your last breath fighting for them. Thank you for your sacrifices, you loving care, dedication and love.

You will be missed.

Although you will be missed, we wish you to rest in peace. You have finished your earthly marathon.
