UPSKILL STUDIO | GUEST TALKS

Supporting Physical and Mental Wellbeing in a Screen-Based World

Screens are now part of everyday life — from the classroom to the workplace. But what does this mean for how we move, work, learn and regulate?

For our October Upskill Studio Guest Talk, Susanna Albertyn, Physiotherapist, and Cerise Rabie, Educational Psychologist, will explore the physical and psychological considerations of growing up and working in an increasingly screen-based world.

The discussion will include:
* Posture and ergonomics
* Screen habits
* Movement and regulation
* Mental wellbeing
* Considerations from school through to work

Join us to consider these issues from both physical and psychological perspectives.

We often think about pet wellness in terms of food, exercise, vaccinations and veterinary care - and all of these matter.

But is that the whole picture?

Pet Wellness is also about comfort, environment, behaviour, enrichment, rest, relationships and the individual needs of the animal.

In my latest blog, I look at what we really mean by Pet Wellness, why more isn't always better, and why perhaps the most useful question we can ask is:

“What does this particular animal need?”

SELF-PACED LEARNING | STUDY | EXAM SKILLS

Knowing the content matters, but learners also need to know how to work with it, understand questions, and communicate what they know. We have developed a series of short, practical, self-paced courses focused on the skills behind effective studying and exam preparation.

Currently available:
Unlocking Keywords to Master Your Knowledge. Looking at how keywords can be recognised, understood and used when working with learning material.What Exam Questions Actually Want: A practical introduction to understanding question keywords, mark allocation and what a question is asking you to demonstrate.

Coming soon:
Revision and Study: Schedules That Work. Looking at how to organise study and revision time in a realistic and sustainable way.
Earn the Marks: Writing Answers That Score. Focusing on understanding questions, structuring responses and communicating knowledge clearly.

These courses are self-paced, so learners can work through the material on their own time and revisit resources as needed. Our intention is to help them better understand how to study, approach questions, and work with what they know.

I often get calls from parents right before exams asking for help with studying. I completely understand why, when exams are approaching, suddenly everything feels urgent.

But effective study preparation really shouldn’t start two to four weeks before the exam.

There is a difference between revision throughout the year, more intensive study as exams approach, and reviewing during the exam period. Each has a place, and each serves a slightly different purpose. The work you do throughout the term gives you something to build on when it is time to study. So rather than waiting until the pressure is already on, the aim is to build a manageable study and revision routine before you need it.

This visual explains the difference in a bit more detail. ⬇️
