Kayla-Tess Pattenden is the Founder and Lead Therapist at The Connect Group. She is trained first and foremost as a social worker but with experience enhancing her expertise beyond this in the clinical counselling, mediation and macro project design and implementation too!
She completed her Bachelor of Social Work at UCT in 2015, and continues to expand her knowledge in areas such as addiction and recovery, statutory social work, couples and intimacy counselling, and supervision.
Kayla-Tess brings both compassion and experience into her work, with a focus on creating meaningful, practical interventions that support real-life challenges.
Career highlights include, partnering with The LifeMatters Foundation to develop their Teenage Awareness Programme- a programme equipping Grade 7–12 learners with tools around healthy relationships, safe social engagement, career direction, and substance abuse awareness ( book one of our workshops for more on this!), supervising student social workers and psychology students & graduates in ethical, innovative and relevant practice, counselling medical frontline workers through the Covid-19 Pandemic and helping addicts make amends with their families through family therapy.
Outside of her professional work, Kayla-Tess iis a mother of three, loves to camp, is creative (when she has time) and lives a life deeply rooted in her Christian Faith— all of which shape her approach to the work she does 🤍
