“Silence creates its own story.”

I recently read this line by the writer Mitra Shahidi, and it made me reflect on how often we fill silence with our own assumptions and imagined explanations.

They must be disappointed in me.

Perhaps I did something wrong.

If I raise it, I might make things worse.

Before long, we begin responding not to what we know, but to the story we have created.

Sometimes the very thing keeping us stuck is the elephant in the room: the difficult conversation we haven't had, the question we haven't asked, or the truth we haven't yet acknowledged, even to ourselves.

We may remain silent because we want to avoid conflict, rejection, criticism or discomfort. But what we avoid rarely disappears. It often continues beneath the surface, showing up as overthinking, withdrawal, defensiveness, resentment or disconnection.

Sometimes moving beyond stuckness does not begin with finding the perfect answer.

It begins with naming what has remained unspoken.

What story might silence be creating in your life, and what could become possible if you were willing to begin the conversation?

🌿 This is your last chance to join Why We Stay Stuck

I originally created this masterclass as a pilot workshop, and the feedback from the first session exceeded my expectations.

Participants left feeling more confident, more optimistic and better able to understand what had been keeping them stuck.

One participant shared:

“Before the masterclass, my dream felt impossible. It felt like there were mountains in the way. Now it feels like small boulders that I can remove one by one through small, actionable steps.”

If you know something needs to change but feel uncertain about where to begin, I would love you to join me.

Perhaps it shows up as overthinking, procrastinating, doubting yourself or saying yes when you really want to say no.

In The Inner Reset Sessions™: Why We Stay Stuck, we’ll explore why insight alone doesn’t always lead to change and look at practical ways to begin shifting the beliefs, habits and patterns that may be keeping us stuck.

Why not me? Why not now? Why not try?

I heard these words during a webinar recently, and they stopped me in my tracks.

"Why not me? Why not now? Why not try?"
— Author unknown

It's amazing how three simple questions can challenge years of self-doubt.

How often do we talk ourselves out of opportunities before we've even given ourselves a chance?

We convince ourselves we're not experienced enough.

Not qualified enough.

Not confident enough.

We wait until we feel "ready."

But what if the thing holding us back isn't a lack of ability at all?

What if it's an old story we've carried with us for years?

Many of our limiting beliefs begin long before adulthood. As children, we make sense of our experiences and quietly form beliefs about who we are.

"I'm not good enough."

"I have to be perfect."

"I shouldn't make mistakes."

Without even realising it, those beliefs can shape the decisions we make decades later.

The good news?

Beliefs are not facts.

They can be questioned.

They can be challenged.

They can be rewritten.

So today, instead of asking yourself, "What if I fail?"

Try asking:

Why not me?
Why not now?
Why not try?

Sometimes changing your life begins by changing the question.

I'd love to know... which of these three questions resonates most with you?

It's Never Really About the Piggy Banks

I have two of the ugliest ceramic piggy banks you've ever seen.

(Please don't tell my husband or my sister-in-law—I know they gave them to me with love!)

One was a gift from my husband before we were even married. The other was given to me by his sister before she moved overseas many years ago. For more than thirty years, they've travelled with us from home to home, always carefully wrapped and always finding a place on a shelf.

Every now and then, usually while I'm decluttering, I pick them up and think, "Surely it's time to let these go."

And every single time...

I put them straight back.

Not because I particularly love the piggy banks.

But because of what they represent.

Somewhere over the years, those little ceramic pigs became symbols of love, family, memories, and the life my husband and I have built together. Without even realising it, I'd attached a story to them.

"If I let these go, I'll lose a piece of those memories."

It wasn't a conscious thought.

It was simply the narrative I'd come to believe.

Then, one day, I caught myself.

Was that story actually true?

Would donating these piggy banks really erase thirty-one years of love, laughter and memories?

Of course not.

The memories don't live inside the piggy banks.

The love isn't sitting on a shelf.

Those things already live within me.

And that simple shift in perspective changed everything.

It made me realise that perhaps I've been asking myself the wrong question all these years.

Instead of asking,

"What if I regret letting them go?"

Perhaps I should be asking,

"What if they could bring joy to someone else?"

Maybe that's what paying it forward looks like.

Allowing something that has meant so much to me to become part of someone else's story.

Not because I'm forgetting my own story.

But because my story no longer depends on the objects that remind me of it.

As I reflected on this, I realised this is exactly what coaching has done for me.

People often think coaching is about fixing problems, setting goals or finding answers.

Sometimes it is.

But more often, it's about something much deeper.

It's about noticing the stories we've quietly been telling ourselves.

The beliefs we've accepted as truth.

The assumptions we've never thought to question.

Coaching doesn't rewrite our past.

It helps us rewrite the narrative we've created around it.

The circumstances may not change.

The memories remain.

The experiences are still ours.

But when we change the way we see them, everything else begins to change too.

That's what it means to rewire our minds.

Not pretending difficult things never happened.

Not denying the past.

But choosing a perspective that allows us to move forward instead of remaining stuck.

Perhaps that's true for all of us.

Maybe we're not holding onto old possessions.

Maybe we're holding onto old stories.

Stories that tell us we're not enough.

That we have to keep proving ourselves.

That letting go means losing.

That change is something to fear.

But what if those stories are no longer true?

What if all they need is a gentle reframe?

As for the piggy banks…

They may stay on my shelf for a little while longer.

Or perhaps one day they'll find a new home and become part of someone else's memories.

Either way, they've already given me something far more valuable than I ever expected.

They reminded me that love doesn't live inside possessions.

It lives within us.

And sometimes, the greatest transformation begins not by changing our circumstances...

But by changing the story we've been telling ourselves all along.

What story in your life might be ready for a new ending?

What If You Don’t Need to Become a Different Person?

For many years, I have been on a quest for self-improvement.
I have read the books, attended the courses, completed qualifications, listened to podcasts, and spent countless hours reflecting on how I could think differently, do better, and become more. If I'm honest, a question has followed me for much of my life:

How do I become a better version of myself?

On the surface, it sounds like a healthy question. After all, growth is important. Learning is important. Personal development has the power to transform lives. But recently, I started wondering whether something deeper was hiding beneath that question.

What if the real question wasn't:
"How do I become better?"

What if it were:
"Why do I believe that who I am right now is not enough?"

That realisation stopped me in my tracks.
Because when I look back over my life, I can see how often I have attached my worth to achievement, productivity, helping others, and proving myself.
When I earned the qualification, I thought I would feel different.
When I lost the weight, I thought I would feel different.
When I changed careers, I thought I would feel different.
When I started my own business, I thought I would finally feel confident.
Yet somehow, the goalposts kept moving. There was always another course to do, another book to read, another goal to achieve, another version of myself to become. And perhaps that is the trap many of us fall into. We spend so much time trying to become someone else that we never stop to appreciate who we have already become.

The truth is, growth and self-acceptance are not opposites.

You can strive to learn, grow and evolve while still recognising your worth today.
You can work towards becoming healthier without believing you are broken.
You can pursue your goals without making your value dependent on achieving them.
You can want more for your life without believing you are not enough.
For many of us, especially those who are driven, responsible and high-achieving, the challenge is not learning how to do more.
The challenge is learning how to trust ourselves.
Trusting that we can handle uncertainty.
Trusting that we do not need all the answers before taking the next step.
Trusting that our worth is not determined by our productivity, achievements or how much we do for others.
Perhaps the next level of growth is not becoming a different person at all.
Perhaps it is finally accepting the person who is already here.
The one who has survived difficult seasons.
The one who has learned and grown.
The one who keeps showing up despite uncertainty.
The one who is still learning, still evolving, and still worthy.
Not because of what they achieve.
But simply because they are human.

So if you find yourself constantly asking:
"How do I think differently?"
"How do I become a different person?"
"How do I do more?"

Maybe pause for a moment and ask yourself a different question:

What if I am already enough, and growth is simply the journey of becoming more fully myself?

Have you ever caught yourself saying:

💭 "I'll be happy when..."
💭 "Things will be easier when..."
💭 "I'll start living once..."

One of the lessons I'm taking from The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts is that we spend so much time waiting for life to feel certain, secure, or perfect before we allow ourselves to truly enjoy it.

But life doesn't happen in the future.

It happens now.

The truth is that uncertainty is part of being human. There will always be things we can't control, questions we can't answer, and paths we can't fully see.

Maybe peace isn't found in having all the answers.

Maybe it's found in trusting ourselves enough to take the next step anyway.

✨ What is one thing you've been putting off until "one day" that you could start today?
