GTL is a 6-down touch rugby league for girls aged 10-13 years old. The league runs over 5 weeks and is held every Friday afternoon from 3:30 - 5pm at False Bay Rugby Club. Each session consists of 40 minutes skills and 40 minutes match play. You enter as an individual and we will allocate players into teams. Touch rugby is a sport that involves running, agility and ball skills such as passing and
catching. It was first played in Australia in 1963. It is a sport played all over the world and the Australians are the current world champions. It is based on rugby league but there is no tackling or kicking of the ball. Each team has 6 players on the field and up to 8 rolling substitutes. When a team has possession of the ball, they have 6 touches to try and score a touchdown. If they are unable to score, possession is given to the opposing team. Possession is also turned over if the ball goes to ground or after any other penalize-able offence (such as a forward pass). Each game has two halves which are 20 minutes long. This is for any girl aged between 10 and 13 years who:
1. Wants to learn a new sport.
2. Loves ball games.
3. Wants to have fun.
4. Wants to make new friends.
5. Wants to get fit.
6. Wants to be part of a team.
7. Wants to improve their ball skills. Our mission:
