❤️ A heartfelt milestone in advancing cardiac care

We are proud to share that Life Kingsbury Hospital has successfully performed its first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedures.

TAVI is an established, minimally invasive treatment option for appropriately selected patients with severe aortic stenosis, a condition in which the heart's aortic valve narrows, restricting blood flow and potentially causing symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, chest discomfort and reduced exercise tolerance.

The introduction of this service expands access to advanced cardiac care closer to home for patients in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs and surrounding communities. This achievement reflects the expertise and collaboration of resident cardiologists Dr Chevaan Hendrickse and Dr Ebrahim Banderker, together with a dedicated multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and radiographers.

When Mrs Hlongwa arrived at Life Hilton Private Hospital’s acute rehabilitation unit following a serious health event, walking independently seemed out of reach. Nearly three months later, she walked out of the unit with renewed confidence and independence.
