Have you ever stopped to wonder why saying “no” feels so difficult?

We often tell ourselves we need stronger boundaries.

But perhaps the real question is...

What have we learnt might happen if we do say no?

Sometimes our struggle with boundaries isn’t about a lack of confidence. It’s about the beliefs we’ve developed over time about what saying “no” means, what it might cost us, or what others might think.

Understanding those beliefs is often where meaningful change begins. 💛

How often do we respond to ourselves with criticism instead of curiosity?

We try harder.
We push harder.
We expect more from ourselves.

Yet lasting change rarely begins with self-judgement.
Sometimes, it begins with understanding. 💛

Why am I so hard on myself?
How do I stop being so self-critical?
Why do I always feel like I’m not good enough?
How can I be kinder to myself?

“I feel like a terrible mum.”

It is one of the most common things I hear from overwhelmed mums. Not because they do not love their children, and not because they are not trying, but because they are exhausted, overstimulated, carrying the mental load, and wondering why they seem to be snapping at the people they love most.

What if your anger is not a sign that you are a bad mum? What if it is a sign that something deeper needs your attention?

In my latest blog, I explore the hidden connection between anger, overwhelm, anxiety, mental load, and emotional exhaustion, and why so many women find themselves thinking, “I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

If you have ever wondered why your patience feels shorter, noise feels louder, or guilt seems to follow you everywhere, this article may help you better understand what is happening beneath the surface.

💛 Remember, you are not failing as a mother. You may simply be a mum who needs the same grace, care, and support that you so freely give to everyone else.

Most mums think they’re just in a bad mood…
but it’s actually overstimulation.

You wake up fine.
You mean to be patient.

Then the noise builds.
Questions. Touch. Decisions.
Everyone needing something at the same time.

And suddenly you feel irritated.
Snappy. On edge.

So you tell yourself, “What’s wrong with me today?”

But this isn’t a bad mood.

It’s what happens when your brain has taken in more input than it can process without a break.

Your system shifts into a stress state.
And everything starts to feel louder, faster, more overwhelming.

That reaction you’re having?
It’s your body asking for less input, not more effort.

So instead of pushing through, try supporting yourself:

• Step away for a minute
• Lower the noise where you can
• Take a few slow breaths before responding

Small pauses help your system settle.

7 things mums think are normal… but could actually be signs of burnout.

Snapping quicker than you’d like
Waking up exhausted (even after sleep)
Struggling to switch off or relax
Constant brain fog or forgetfulness
Feeling overstimulated by small things
Running on caffeine… then crashing
Feeling like you’re always “on” and never done

If this feels familiar, it’s not because you can’t cope.
It’s because you’ve been coping for too long without a pause.

If this spoke to you and you’d like my Mini Nervous System Reset Guide, follow me so I can message you, and comment “RESET”.

Easter is a reminder that even after the darkest days,
there is still hope.

That God brings new life to what feels broken.
That what feels heavy right now is not the end of your story.

Today I’m holding onto this quiet truth -
renewal is possible.🤍

“Is it bad that I just want to be alone?”

If you’ve found yourself thinking this…
you’re not the only one.

It’s not because you don’t want to be with your kids.
So you can let go of that guilt.

What you’re feeling is something we see all the time in nervous system science.

When your brain is exposed to constant input,
noise, touch, questions, decisions, people needing you,
it starts to become sensory overloaded.

Your nervous system shifts into a stress state (fight or flight).
Not because something is wrong,
but because it has taken in more than it can process without a break.

That urge to be alone?
It’s your body trying to reduce input so it can regulate again.

Not rejection.
Not failure.
Regulation.

And while a weekend away sounds amazing and can help,
it’s not the solution to everyday mum life.

You can’t stop being a mum.
But you can learn how to support your system while you’re in it.

Here are 3 things you can do today:

• Take a micro-pause before responding to the next demand
• Step outside for 5 minutes to reduce sensory input
• Schedule white space into your week, protected time that is just yours

These small moments help bring your system out of stress
and back to a more regulated state.

If this feels like you, comment “RESET” and I’ll send you my Mini Nervous System Reset Guide.
