It's been a while.. So just a little update about me ❤️ We welcomed a little boy last year October and our 7 year old daughter just adores him. I'm soaking up extra family time this year but I'm still working in a part time capacity. To answer some questions I've received -

* I am still doing assessments but only with Grade 4 to 12 learners.
*I'm working only on Saturdays at this stage.
* I've moved back to an office at 309 Umhlanga Rocks Drive (Umhlanga GP).
* I do general educational assessments but also assessments to be used when applying to the IEB, Dept of Ed, SACAI and GED for exam accommodations / concessions.
* I still offer the Stark Griffin Dyslexia and Dyscalculia testing.

I was privileged to spend a day in Cape Town this week administering the Stark Griffin Dyscalculia Test. Bookings for Cape Town and Joburg are open for March and April. Contact [email protected] for more info.

Practice update : I have updated my training for the Stark Griffin Dyscalculia Test and I am now able to offer this comprehensive specialist assessment again. Dyscalculia refers to a learning difficulty affecting mathematics. It is an indepth test that can take 4 to 5 hours to administer but is able to then give a clear diagnosis of Dyscalculia in terms of severity and type. Many academic institutions are now asking for the Stark Griffin Dyscalculia Test in order for a learner to apply for an exemption from Mathematics for high school. I continue to offer the Stark Griffin Dyslexia Test as well, this is a much shorter test (approx 45 minutes) and is a helpful measure to support an application to an exam board for concessions such as a reader, scribe and / or a first additional language exemption.

We have availability in the upcoming mid-year school holidays at both our Morningside, Durban and Cape Town branch for the Stark Griffin Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Tests, as stand alone tests with Wendy Stone. In order to do the test, the learner would have had to have done an educational assessment with any Psychologist at some stage in the last 2 to 3 years as a cognitive score is required.

These diagnostics tests are helpful when motivating for exam concessions / accommodations and they offer further insight into the type of learning difficulty that the learner is presenting with.

Our first assessment in Cape Town took place today at these beautiful offices😊
Shannon is a psychometrist based in Cape Town working under the Wendy Stone practice and it is such a pleasure to collaborate with her again. Shannon spent 2 years working in our Hillcrest, Durban practice before she relocated to the cape. We have a few more Cape Town bookings lined up and cannot wait to watch our Cape Town practice grow this year. Our Capetown offices are located in Newlands, Southern Suburbs.

Happiest 2024 well wishes to all 💜

Practice update: In order to improve the quality of my work, I've decided to primarily focus my assessment work on Grade 6 / 7 to Grade 12, as well as tertiary level. This age group tends to focus on completing an assessment for the purpose of applying to the relevant exam board for exam concessions / accommodations. This may be for a learner in a private school, a learner in a government school or a homeschooler. I'm hoping that a practice focus will allow me to specialize my knowledge and my test library whilst hopefully improving the time frame for report completion.

I still am offering the Stark Griffin Diagnostic Dyslexia testing for Grades 3 to 12. As well as limited play therapy spaces for Grade R to 4.
